From what I remember you can go fuck around on little trails for a good while. I went up and down hills that were wide enough for side-by-sides and taco's fit just fine.

On the way there from th hiway you will pass swedehaven rd( between oso and Whitehorse) it will take you out forever. There are some great spots in there. I don't remember how exactly but it ties into the Phinney Cumberland road on the other side of the hills.

I’ll have to check out the location on the Gaia app and see what trails are out there too. Might try to expand the lunch meet up to a little exploration as well (for those interested)

EDIT: ...I’m just really trying to avoid driving 2+ hours there for a 1 mile trail. Not trying to change the vibe of this!!! (Hope that’s not how it’s perceived)

That’s fine dude I’m sure other people would be interested in that. I would any other day but we’ve got plans later that evening we have to get back home to. Who knows maybe we’ll have a little time

@Skootter14 start at n. Brooks creek rd off the 530. 3 lefts at the y's in the road then 2 rights and you'll be at day creek area. I haven't been up that way in many years not sure if there's any gates now or not. This time of year there could also be lots of washouts.

Sorry all, I’m gonna have to bow out of this one. It’s a 2h43m drive from my house to the turn off on 530. I can’t rationally drive that far with the prego wife and kiddo for a day trip. Hope you guys have a great time and get some awesome pics! As always, I’ll be watching out for the next months meet up and see if it works out!

For future trip then. It's a great area to roam around in. There are a couple areas of Shale full of fossils.

I know there is in the parking lots/staging area but not sure about actually in the park... I haven't heard of anyone doing it but I know they don't close it all down at night

I'll be down there the first weekend of May with some Jeep buddies camped somewhere around Brown's camp.

There are plenty of other short trails and places to play around a bit up by the river where you guys are going but you can't be too concerned about pinstripes though some of the scrub bushes because like @JDAM said they get pretty tight. I also went down a random trail one time that ended in a pretty tight dead end deep in the trees.

We'll just kinda be fending for ourselves with some salmon burgers, but I'll have my grill if you want to use it. I'll likely have beers to share.
