The hell is this source? It's definitely not mainstream and I'd be cautious before quoting numbers here.... @smitty99

It's not a reputable site. Tacoma sales actually declined in March. It's off to it's worst start since 2014.

Sales of the company’s signature Tacoma midsize pickup — which is built in San Antonio and Baja California, Mexico — fell 5.4 percent, or 959 vehicles, to 16,728 in March. For the first quarter, Tacoma sales are down 2.4 percent, or 1,083 vehicles, to 43,493.

Did you read the both articles and comprehend it?
Read that Colorado and others declined also. The facts are correct in the articles , all small trucks declined. You just wanted to read what you wanted it seems.
AND they wanted the headlines to read what they wanted:facepalm: it seems also.
Colorado was -14 %, but no comment on that, LOL.
Taco is still #1 small pickup. :benchpress:

It also said that the Twins were down 13.2%

Ford and Dodge were up, Silverado was down too.

The article that OP posted actually says Tacoma's are down 5% for Q12017... which is exactly what you stated.

    Read more, post less.

You should read more, and actually post less. Just kidding. But no need to be rude. It's not that serious.

My bad on the OP post.

It's great the Tacoma still maintains it's lead in the mid size truck market.

Auto sales are down overall in 2017 because the auto industry posted record high sales in 2015 and 2016. Toyota is down 2.6% from last March. Ford is down 5% from last March despite its outstanding F series pickup truck sales in March. GM is up 1.6% despite March being a weak month for their pickup truck lineup. SUV sales tends to be a big cash cow for GM and Toyota right now. It is going to be hard for the auto industry to pull off another record setting year after 2015-2016 pulling off the best numbers since 1999.

Car/sedan sales are declining rapidly since everyone wants a SUV or truck right now because gas prices have remained stable but if gas ever hits $4-5 a gallon, everyone will go back to buying fuel efficient sedans and then SUV and truck sales will decline.

Tacoma will always own the mid-size market period.

The past is no indication of the future. The 3rd Gen Taco is not the quality it once was. There is a lot of competition in the mid-size market, so Toyota can't get by with a half ass new Gen truck and expect to stay on top. The new Taco is rated at the bottom in most head/head comparisons. It's a cheap truck so it appeals to that crowd. People who want better quality and features will get a GMC Denali or Ridgeline.
