@JimboAnz had 2 one stock and one with 4.56s. But he was also an E-locker. I have seen/heard of more guys braking the E-locker than the non.

The biggest advantage to the newer 8.7 is the tooth size when stepping up to 4.88s or 5.29s

I remember him braking the second one. He was right in front of me at the time. I think his heart broke as much as that diff did. Truck was fixed and traded shortly there after.

I've heard of the e-locker ones breaking, that .7 in diameter does seem to make a difference.

It's not just the ring gear size. In our diffs the e-locker looses some reinforcements which helps in deflection and stuff. How much IDK. But I think they also beefed up the housing and added some strengthening to decrease deflection in the 8.7.

Here’s what I got when I reached out to reputable shops in the east on buying a used 8.75.

More deflection, with smaller teeth, in a shock-loading situation is certainly a recipe for failure.

So it’s on it’s side and ready to pull since you guys want bigger axles.

This was beside my house. It was a slow moving off camber turn pretty sure guy was okay.

I'd be interested to know the roof height on a Gen 2 with the HD version of this kit and 40" tires. If I can run a setup like that and still fit in my garage that will be just about the coolest thing ever.

Depends how high you set your lift, but if you're around 4" of lift you should end up with a cab height around 7'.
