man this thread is something else. It honestly brings back a ton of memories. Like I remember when this thread first started and the buzz around it. I would check in once in a while as I finished my last year in college. Finally graduated with my bachelor's, and later on passed my licensing exam. The wife got pregnant and we had our first kid after that. Now the kid is 7 months. Also completely changed career paths from a blue collar job of backbreaking work covered in metal shavings, wood splinters, and itchy fiberglass to an air conditioned building, scribbling notes, and sipping coffee. Maybe one day I'll tell my son about this kit when he is older and maybe he will get a chance to install it on his vintage Tacoma, hopefully I'll still be around to see it.

I emailed them this morning and asked for an update, because I haven't heard anything since the email I shared on this thread a while ago (that indicated kits would start shipping on 4/19). This is the response I got, word for word:
"The first few kits should start shipping very soon. Unfortunately, we ran into a few delays."
The vague language in the email ("few, should, very soon") and overall lack of communication otherwise is starting to concern me. Late March /early April was the original time line given when pre-orders began. An email update in mid April pushed it back to April 19, and it's been crickets ever since.

Holy shit, when you put it that way. I separated from the navy, moved states, got a government contracting job that I've now been at for over 2 years, and have a 6 month old son as well. All since this thread was created.

I deployed to Afghanistan from '19 to '20 and the war will be over there before these things ship.

The dirt lifestyle dude posted a new video talking about how excited he is to work with Marlin Crawler and getting his RCLT for his new tacoma. It's all comical at this point. They're gonna do a documentary on netflix about it next.

Owning a 4th gen 4Runner, I was pumped to see the Steel City Racing build for the KOH. Then the RCLT set up he put on it had me drooling. The reality of expense set in shortly after and I never thought about it again until this thread popped into my feed about six months ago. Truly grateful my budget never even allowed me to consider this. wafj. The Sherpa 4th gen 4Runner did OK with just a plain ol TC set up.

Man, so much has happened. Got a new unit at work, and a 7 million dollar budget. Installed a new roof on the house, now a grandfather, gave up on RTLC and bought another toy with the funds. Having the house painted today and looking for a retirement home now. Marlin could have had my money in the bank and more by now. Take care my TW brother's.

The Sherpa truck is continuing to race through the season and is currently sitting at #8 overall in the 4600 class. Also had more qualifying KOH points on a harder course in 2021 than the steel city 4runner had in 2020.

I also think the steel city 4 runner has only raced once, but I could be wrong about that.

I follow Sherpa, those guys have a good time and also are a great team/family. Hard working and well grounded. They deserve to go far.
Steel City? Not sure either, but I don't think they have raced again. They called off this years KOH.

In spirit of this, I finished college. Got a job, decided to go back to school, now mid-way through 2nd career and got a different job lol. Looking to buy a samurai as a trail rig, totally gave up on any of marlin products. Was about to purchase a tacobox a year ago but no longer made.

At this point I think the race for delivering a functional LT kit before Marling is between me, my 7 year old son, and @EatSleepTacos 's 6 month old son. Mine should be done this summer, and the boy has some prototype sketches for his...

dude my oldest was born two months before this thread, he’s turning 3 in December and already helps me wrench on my truck. He’ll probably be 21 before this shit comes out.

RST and Marlin are the same thing. One just has more experience behind him, which he humbly owes the the OG, but chooses to ruin the name instead.
