The company I went with did that and I've only paid for what I've received. Since king is slow that part of the bill is still open

You can't buy materials or pay labor costs with a pre-authorization charge. When you are buying back ordered shocks, that might work if the vendor has an account with the manufacturer, but MC is the manufacturer here so has to pay for all the costs of production

I get that, but why not figure that part out before taking full payment?

Why not continue to build a product that prints money and has lines of people waiting to buy it like the Tacobox? Only the Mikes know

Because marlincrawler needed the cash to build them. They clearly don't have the capital to do it on their own.

I used to work for a handmade bicycle company that pulled the same shit, run like a pyramid scheme.. They'd have a round of super pissed off customers that were told we were ready to build their bike 6-12 months ago asking where their product was, so the company would call another round of customers telling them we were ready to build, and then use that money to build the previous customers bikes. It was total BS and I was really glad to leave that job.

That company is now out of business but I see alot of parallels to how Marlin is running things these days.

You can buy materials and pay for production by having capital and not relying on customers to front production costs years in advance to then never deliver

Especially considering the amount of money the SBA was giving out like candy to businesses at the start of COVID. 20 kits at $7,000 is $140K. They could have gotten 3x that from SBA easy.

Yeah, there were SBA grants which not everyone got, but also SBA loans at crazy low interest rates.

I agree, presales of an unproven design is a great way to cause hate and discontent

I like how this MC promotional thread has turned into a support group.

Alot of companies and failed businesses run this way. I also left a business that did the same thing, the owner used the next customers down payment to finish the previous customers project. Seemed like he never got ahead, but he did have alot of cool stuff. I quit one day and his business eventually went under and several customers lost alot of money.

No doubt, but considering how they’re running things now, why loan money?

That was happening with the crawl boxes and stuff long before the RCLT. It seems like this has been a bleed that is really starting to affect things in a bigger way.

I didnt know about that fiasco. If I didnt already have ALL the other parts needed for this install I would just SAS at this point. If I started with that my truck would be done by now.
