I'm a Black Belt in MCMAP(Marine Corps Martial Arts Program). It utilizes techniques from nearly all styles of fighting. It can be very effective. I haven't sparred or practiced much in a bit. Need to get back into it.

i wanted to excel in MCMAP but there were no instructors around to give class. or if there were, my office/job did not really allow it. Now i see Marines everywhere training (good on them!)

I was pretty lucky. We only had a couple instructors in the BN and one happened to be in my shop.

I'd like to start taking BJJ, never thought I'd be interested in martial arts until I was able to sit in on a BJJ class that a friend is taking.

I've done Muay Thai, but have not stepped into the ring, so I am not acknowledged..

In doing Muay Thai, I also had the privilege of training with Danny Perez and was part of several pro boxing camps as a sparring partner. Again no ring time..

Was fun, but life is always shifting in new directions!

5th Dan in Tangsoodo, had my own school in PA with my son who is a 4th Dan. Also have my 1st Dan in Haidong Gum DO, (korean art of sword), going to start BJJ in the next couple months if my body will hold out. Also trained in Judo, Kung Fu, Bando. Had to move with my job and then lost my job and just moved to the Wilmington NC area and looking for a new place just to train. Love to teach but I do miss the training and sweating..

BJJ here, 4 stripe blue currently. Learning to train smarter being over 40, but it's been great for my conditioning.

Awesome!! I’m over 40 also, but no stripes on my blue. I’d love to get a purple belt one day. You’re damn close to that!!

Yes sir, you never know but it's probably very close. I don't feel like I am ready for it, but I never do, even for stripes lol.

I just keep showing up and don't sweat the bad days. It's hard to balance family, kid sports and BJJ at night but TV is overrated anyway lol.

I started Shin-Shin Toitsu Aikido back in college in the 1970s after it was recommended by another student in the Law Enforcement program who was a Wa State Patrol Trooper. I continued off and on depending largely on my work schedule eventually reaching 1st kyu before jail work schedule again interfered before I could test for black belt. After I retired and moved to Idaho I found my original instructor from 35 years ago had returned from Japan and now had his own dojo where I started training again. He promptly promoted me to black belt and made me Assistant Instructor. Then the pandemic hit. Still waiting to resume training.
