Hey guys need some questions answered. So I'm tryin really hard to get back into a taco. So I'm looking at a few in the area and I've narrowed it down to two. One is a 4cyl 4wd. Now how are the 4cyl with 4wd? Also how are they when lifted? The only reason I'm considering this one is bc of gas mileage. And the other option is a 5speed and I REALLY don't want a 5 speed. Let me know thanks

I can only speak for the 4cly 4x4 with the 5spd. It did OKAY... It is underpowered as an AccessCab with my fat ass and all my gear I kept inside not extremely underpowered as I could be in 5th most of the time but hills I ended up downshifting once sometimes even twice to keep speed. Lifted it did okay. The tires hurt more than the lift I had the E rated duratreks and steel rims. Offroading it did great kept up with the V6s. On the road it was lacking with any hill. My personal experience is I get BETTER mpg with the V6 (not great but better) I find I'm not dogging the V6 as much as I did the 4cly. If you don't drive it like you stole it you will probably get better mpg, though I've heard it's a common trend with people who switch from the 4cly to the V6 so driving style might not be the only factor. As for the auto I don't know I would almost imagine it having less get up and shifting even more on the hills. But manual does increase the suck in MD traffic, I try to avoid heavy traffic and drive routes that I can avoid it.

As for offroading mpg, it did SLIGHTLY better than my V6. This last trip to RC I went through about a 1/4 tank from muds house about an hour away to the time we left.

The wife and I are planning some extended weekend camping trips this upcoming season. Anybody here ever camp at Point lookout State Park in St. Mary's Co? It's located where the Potomac River meets the Chesapeake. This cg park has a 710ft long fishing pier. [IMG]

Waiting sucks, but settling with a ±$20k investment that you will want to have for years sucks more. For that kind of investment its best to know what you want and find it. Plus once you start modding and putting money into an investment your not 100% happy with it makes more sense to wait it out. That's another thing about the 4 cly. Skids and bumpers with sliders and wheels it would of had to be in 2nd to go up the hills lol.

Dave, I have surf fished there before- 40 years ago? wow, did great, but that's when we used to catch 6-8 lbs seatrout, cant tell ya how good it is, I have never camped there (fishing we did over-nite) but it is not a place for yer boat for sure, unless ya gotta bigger one--20 ft at least

I agree i wouldn't take my boat. I would just fish off of their 710ft fishing pier.

I'm not a Ford guy but this F150 4x4 is nice. The 3.5L v6 turbo ecoboost has some serious get up and go for a full size pick up. And the owner said he's getting 25mpg's!

I highly recommend that you go, if you like the mountains, an electric motor only 243 acre lake, casino, golf course, hiking trails, and Green Ridge State Forest 25 miles away????????????? the casino and golf course are on the otherside of the lake, no intrusions
