No shit but that the risk I took buying used in the salt belt

 

this is mine just behind the front crossmember. I got a piece of 3/16 steel to weld it and a buddy told me the tensile strength on the frames is real high and the coating on the frame stinks like shit if you go to weld it..... Idk I don't feel that it's too hateful a spot

 

Does yours have the Toyota recall thing for frame rust.

 

Mine is only about a inch long and just a crack at the weld and I still need to check inner rail sides

 

Nope 4runners weren't included in the recalls.And its 17 yrs old

 

Lame.

 

Gonna try and weld it with my little 125amp welder sometime soon hopefully think I can just grind it out a little a drop a bead or two on it if that doesn't work I will be contacting our local fabricator (@mobtown) to see if he can do anything for it

 

That sucks! But i'm sure it's fixable.

 

Here's a quick pic started cleaning with a wire wheel so there is still surface rust around the area just shot it with some paint for now

 

If the backside (inside) is solid that should be a easy fix.

 

That's the million dollar question

 

Anyone know if I could swap these to my Tacoma?
