I'd almost be tempted to wire wheel off all the rust and then spray primer over it... although I'm not sure if that qualifies as "removing the holes" in the eyes of MD inspection.

wire wheel the shit out of it, fill it with bondo, sand to match the body lines, and then spray paint it. only has to last for day, to get the car inspected, then who cares if the stuff cracks and falls out.

I second this I've even seen people pop rivet metal in and bondo it just to get passed inspection. The worst I've see is duct tape with paint over it. But I work just wire wheel it and bondo and paint it once it's inspected your good to go.

Why are you getting it MD inspected if its a rally car? Can't you trailer it with the truck?

Yes, but MD has some strange laws about keeping cars with no tags/insurance, and i dont have a garage to hide this thing in. also, ive never driven a stick before in my life, so i need to learn to drive it first. Hell, i still struggle to move it around my yard in first/reverse without stalling it

That would be amazing, where about are you located, as the car would need to be trailered to you and back, since its gonna be a bit before i can get tags on it

Isn't there a temporary inspection tag available, so the vehicle can be driven to repair places and inspection shops?

there is, but that means you have 30 days from the time you get the tags to get it past inspection and have tags on it, and since im on a budget, i dont want to have the inspection and then find out theres a ton of stuff to fix, and not have the cash to do it
