Hey, my northern brothers. I travel up to St Mary's to fish off PAX Naval Air Station. I was wondering how the rockfish are biting around this time. I can't really find any good fishing reports for the area. I just bought a Hobie Kayak and want to take it for a spin.

I went out a couple weeks ago with a buddy on his boat and we ripped them up. Caught anywhere from 22"-34". Not the huge monsters but keepers for sure. Most of the rock or the big big rock have rolled out the area but there is still a good amount running around

Yep. And I know a lot of car guys and they know I buy vehicles that need work. I also had my own towing business, small just me and a medium duty diesel rollback but I've met a lot of shop owners and car guys because of the towing I did over the years. Knowing people helps. I gave this guy 2 grand for this 454 El Camino yesterday. He wants me to buy his 1993 HD low rider also. I'm gonna try and get it for $1500.

i figured, one of my neighbors runs his own towing business, project cars everywhere on his lot. also, which one of you fools is picking all the tacomas clean in the junkyard? went up to crazy rays today looking for wheels for the crapalier, strolled over to the tacomas they had, all 6 of them stripped clean to the shell minus the damaged parts which got thrown into the bed, one had only been there for four hours!

Rays in Jessup doesn't even have any Tacomas at all from what their website says. Was kind of surprised.

That's because most don't end up in junk yards, they apparently get a lot of money for them even totalled over seas so they either ship them over themselves or send them to auction and they normally end up over there that way. Its crazy that even wrecked they hold their value

I've sold plenty of 4runners and older toyota p/u's with high miles and rusted frames to a guy that ships them overseas out of a N.J. port. And he pays me good for them, more than i could get around here. He don't care about condition as long as it can move under their own power and have clear titles. 1st one i sold him was a 93 4x4 p/u with a knocking 22re and a badly rusted frame for $1200, I only paid $250 for it. Easy money.

Does anyone in here have any leads on where I could get scrap lead, preferrably pure lead but I can smelt out impurities if needed.

@Mobtown Offroad, @68dave, @colinb17, I feel like you guys would know the answer to this for some reason.

try some of the larger (not high end) marinas and boat yards. sailboat keels are generally fiberglass shells with lead cores. when an older boat is either getting scrapped or getting a new keel put on, they don't typically reuse the old core. you'll need either a heavy duty trailer, or a way to cut the core into smaller pieces though. I would not put a 1500+ lb chunk of lead in your bed without airbags.

    making bullets?

This was my first thought, but my understanding is that most wheel weights are converting over to zinc and steel?

I'm looking at ISO-cores from radiology pharmacies and ballast weights in sailboats as another option.... Ideally like looking to get like 100 pounds.

Thanks for reaffirming this idea, I didn't know if sailboat keels were actually a viable option. I am working to make bullets, I'll be casting lead cores and then swaging them into brass or copper jackets in a die press. The tooling is cheap though so I need to have all the materials to make this cost effective acquired before I purchase tooling.
