I'm running 265/70R17 on stock rear leveled front. I can't imagine these tires looking too small if it was lifted another couple inches.

Mine haven't really changed with the combination of lighter wheels and taller tires.

Good catch! But even after I dropped them off at my storage unit I made several trips that never triggered the sensor. It finally kicked on Friday morning though.

I just purchased my first Tacoma. A '10 DC 6-speed. I was looking for an auto but got the 6 due to price. Apparently most commoners don't want the 6. I enjoy driving the six but notice two things:

    1) Perhaps I drive it too much like my motorcycle or Subaru but the mileage is not what I thought. I expected 15 city, 20 hwy. This is what I think were the published numbers for 2010. I know companies fib a bit but was still hoping to average 18, which would be nearly 2x what I got from my 454 sub. Three tanks in, running 93 octane, I average 15.37 mpg. Not terribly psyched. I've toned down my driving a bit but have seen no real impact... .3mpg delta

    2) While driving and shifting from one gear to the next..... While letting off the gas, clutch in, and shifting, the engine continues to rev high longer than I'd expect (rather than drop off). With most sticks I've driven, as soon as I let off the gas and apply the clutch the rev drops off. My Tacoma does not reduce rpms nearly as quick as I'd expect. This is a bit annoying, noisy, and probably hurts mpg a little. That said, it's only a minor irritant. Kind of like the heater fan.

Does this sound to anyone like typical 6cyl 6-spd behavior?

On to tires.... I'm staying stock for a bit and not even sure what sizes everyone runs..... But, if anyone local is interested I have a new, never mounted, Falken Rocky Mountain ATS LT285/75R16D1 122Q tire for sale. I ran four of these on my '99 suburban and was very pleased with them. The Rocky Mountain is the same as the Falken Wild Peak A/T. I think the RM's were made by Falken for Discount Tire (which is where I purchased mine)

    http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/tires/falken/size/bySize.do?cs=285&ar=75&rd=16

Anyway, this one was to be my spare but I never got a rim for it and thus never mounted it prior to selling my sub. White letters on one side, black on the other. I paid $182 plus $22 for warranty. Not sure the warranty is transferable but I think it is and it works great. I can give you details. Anyway, new at DT is now $178. I'll sell mine to TW members for $135, you pick it up in Severn, MD.

    Welcome to TW

The Tacoma is a truck and has a tall rear end gearing. If it was a car the rear end would be somewhere betweem 3.09 and 3.20. I am pretty sure out Tacoma's are 4.11 or 4.56. I am sure someone with better knowledge than I will correct me.

I have not had problems shifting my 5 speed nor noticed any problems. I did upgrade to Red Line gear oil at 30K and the gear meashing is a lot easier now. It may also help if you install an Underdog Racing short throw shift kit.

THX Joe. It would be nice to have a 2 gear rear end to go from a 3:09 to a 4:11 or so. I doubt if there are any made for a truck. I remember reading about them for cars but that was a long time ago.

The weather tech mats do fit the manual trans. I have no problem with the weather techs I purchased in my 2012 manual. I purchased them from TAOScott, a vendor for truckaddons on here, and he will make sure you get mats that fit.
