Yeah. I've had MT's before and for my purposes AT's have always been great.

I tried to get the dealer to swap @2016 Tacoma SR 's wheels and tires when I bought my new truck. They weren't having it.

I don't know why that is the case but i've never been able to make a dealer do a deal on tires. Its annoying.

I've had Firestone Destination ATs. They worked very well but the sidewalls are garbage.
I had Hankook Dynapro ATMs, they worked as well or better than the firestones but they would never hold a balance.
The Bfg AT is a great choice but it seems like the older ones were hit or miss with balancing issues. The new ones seem to be working great for the people that i know that have them....but they still are overpriced. Always have been.
I do not like the Cooper ATP, i've seen people wear through them in 20k.
The AT3 seems like a pretty decent option, i've heard that it performs on par with the Dynapro ATM and doesn't have the balancing issues.
The General AT2/AT3, i'm personally not a fan of. I dont like how squishy and soft their sidewalls are. They seem to have a tendancy to follow grooves in the road. Plus they aren't rated for any kind of decent snowfall (eventhough they'll work just fine) and they look kind of like a BFG knockoff to me.

Keep in mind, my opinions are my own and they do not matter

I was considering the hankook ATM and cooper at3 as well.

Previously my buddy had BFG AT and I had the general AT². You are 100% right about them being similar. The treads are nearly identical, but the general has squishy sidewalls. The set I had were great in the snow and mud. They were really good at self cleaning. My BFG MT's were not though. They would cake up with mud or snow. It was frustrating.

Falkens? Only experience with Falkens I have are in the Z rated category. I bought two sets of FK453's. No complaints from me, but I wasn't looking for shear performance. I wanted some quiet and comfort too and they were good for that.
