Yea man I love this thing up in the mountains. Before i drove this up there i had to replace the rear brake hose with a ss one because the rubber hose was cracked. Of course because of the rust I also had to replace a hard brake line that connected to the hose. I checked all the other brake hoses & hard lines for safety reasons, don't need no brake issues coming down the mountain lol. I replaced both cats to help with the exhaust leak but its still a bit loud but now how it was. When the weather cools off i need to start wrenching on my other 80. Thanks again for the killer deal!!!

Get that 4runner done and bring it up to WV where my cabin is at for a day or weekend. Some nice mountain roads/trails to explore.

I don't plan to get rid of it. If something happens to it beyond repair I plan to part it for my rust free stock 80. That was my original plan until I did the brake work & started driving it daily. It just drove too nice to part out.

Hey all, I'm in Bel Air and curious where most of you get your alignments done. I went to Firestone today after calling and inquiring if it would be an issue to get lifetime alignment on my truck, which is lifted. They said no, so naturally when I'm checking out the store manager says they can't do the lifetime for me since I have modified suspension. I bitched a bit and he finally agreed to honor it since I was told it was no problem...however, they didn't even give me my caster readings, and he put a notes section on my alignment plan that they would only touch the toe of the truck and not the camber or caster. I've already called customer service and I'm going to see if they'll just refund me at this point since I doubt I'll get what I'm looking for out of this lifetime plan (caster readings so I can adjust my UCAs at home and for them to adjust camber/toe). Open to suggestions, thanks

That's really shitty, since I know for a fact some people with lifted trucks get lifetime alignment from Firestone and haven't had problems. Maybe see if there's another firestone nearby that's better, since lifetime alignment is good at any location.

I found another location that's pretty close and the sales rep said it shouldn't be a problem to bring it there (but who knows if the store manager or tech feel the same way) but wanted to emphasize they go solely off factory specs which may not be accurate with different tires and suspension. My camber didn't seem too bad at L -0.4/R 0.05 and they have no issues adjusting the toe so I really just need to convince them to give me the readings for caster even if they don't mess with it. I have the SPC Light Racing UCAs so I'm sure I can adjust after getting a readout and have them check it again to verify it's in spec (I'm shooting for 2.4 here with a 3" lift and 33s).

That should be super easy for them then since you've got aftermarket UCAs. IIRC isn't there a setting on the UCAs to automatically add 2 degrees of caster?

Yes, the default settings on those UCAs are +2 degrees, and when I aligned it with my 2.5" lift when I first had the truck I ended up at around 3 degrees both L/R for caster.

    Great write-up here, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...driving-report-with-light-racing-ucas.158795/

I may go ahead and bump my settings to alter the caster and camber. I wish I had researched the caster sooner. I assumed my specs were fine as they were but in reality I'm about 1 degree over on caster since I lifted it several years ago. I plan to install an OME kit with Dakars in the next month or so (or whenever the rear struts aren't on backorder) so I'll have to adjust it again then.

No more sounding like a ricer for me! Changing out the loud fancy muffler LCE Engineering sent me for a 9$ junkyard special off a 4runner. Couldn't take the noise any longer...

Bumpa. Pulled it back off to weld it up and take to powder coat. Added weigh dropped from end 1/2" without the winch.

Haha. I feel your pain. I've got LCE's exhaust on my Tacoma. It was so loud when I put it on that I would start getting a headache after driving for over an hour. I had a 12" resonator added in between the cats and muffler, and it cut it down enough that I can drive it without getting a headache. It's still damn loud when accelerating, but it's not too bad when cruising.

    Working on it.
I read here in the forums that they were a solid shop for alignments. I drove out there when I first bought my truck to check it out and they seemed like decent folks. Mike was friendly and knowledgeable. I have yet to have any work done but when I need an alignment I will drive back out. He said they specialize in jeep but they said they can do most anything outside of electrical work. Hope it helps.
