I agree. Last Thanksgiving morning i bought my 2nd Landcruiser. While the wife was cooking i ran out and bought it without saying a word lol. But she was cool, as long as i give her the bill $$$ she don't care what i buy.

Looks like it is not road worthy, and would need to be towed.

"ABS doesn't work since solid axle swap (no abs sensors) and speedometer doesn't work since it relies on the wheel speed sensors from the ABS system. I use a gps app on my phone for speed."

 

I'd still drive it on the road if it was mine. Newer SAS tacomas face the same issues with ABS as well, but it's not a huge deal IMO.

 

How would you get it to pass inspection?

 

If I were to want to buy it (I don't) I'd register it in FL where no safety inspection is required. Or if I were to try and register it here I'd remove the LED on the dash for the ABS light. I don't recall them driving my truck during the inspection, so I'm not sure how they'd find out the speedo doesn't work.

EDIT: Also if MD was my only possibility of registering it then I probably wouldn't bother because if it didn't pass inspection, I'd be hosed.

 

1996, means it is over 20 years old. which means it can be registered historic. which means no inspection.

 

Crap I wish I didn't see that posting. 41" tires. Damnet I want to buy it so bad now.

When completing a Maryland State inspection the inspector, by law, is required to physically drive the vehicle to ensure the vehicle operates correctly on the road.... just put a picture of yourself over the speedo and tell them not to move it, its sacred

Would qualify for Historic's I believe so you might have a loop hole
