So I'm in need of some help from you seasoned Toyota experts. I picked up a 2005 4Runner sport today from a friend, he's the original owner. Truck ran fine Monday night, wouldn't start Tuesday morning when he went to leave for work. I got it for a great price and I hope to get it running again. There are 15 stored codes on the computer. I can tell you in the last year, he's replaced the transmission which was done at Toyota, 6 new coils, new plugs, new radiator, new thermostat and housing, new belt, new manifolds and cats, oil changed 2 months ago. Truck has the 4.0 and has about 250K miles on it currently. I'm leaning towards one or both of the cam sensors causing most of this and causing the no start issue but I could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Stored codes are as follows
    P0340
    P0345
    P0020
    P0010
    P0343
    P0348
    P0102
    P0113
    P0118
    P0121
    P0123
    P0452
    P2135
    P0778
    P2716

Damn! I've never seen a vehicle with that many codes. Since these are stored codes erase them then see which ones are active. Hopefully they all don't come back. Then post the codes that reappear. Or I'll do you a big favor and take that thing off your hands for you, that way you don't even have to worry about it.

lol she's clean too. Issue is, once cleared, unless they show up again while just cranking, i'm screwed. Truck doesn't run so no way to take it for a ride and see what's going on. I should add that I'm not sure which of these codes is stored vs active. I'm using a cheap POS scanner from Autozone that a friend has had for probably 10 years.

    A thing or two...
See inside quote for code definitions. The majority are camshaft sensor, but also throttle position, MAF, IAT, ECT, and pressure solenoids (which I would guess would be transmission).

4WD hasn't worked in years, I believe it's the solenoid on the front axle which I intend to open up and repair. The VSC, light along with other 4wd lights have also been on for years.

That many codes seems more like a bad computer. That's what happened with my Jeep. PCM went bad and threw like 12 codes
