yeah, cant afford anything new. i need to look into those recalls and see how bad it is, all i know is there was a big one over condensation in the intercooler, something to do with it being to efficient and causing the water to condense out of the air passing through it on humid days.

Dengit. I missed the Tundra talk :(

It was all true though. They're expensive, the fuel economy is that of a boat, old tech....but I love mine :anonymous:

I will not be able to not own a full size truck now. The amount of room in the back of a crewmax is silly. I decided I needed a full size after my Tacoma was dying trying to pull my boat. I looked really hard at the Ford, Chevy, and Toyota. Almost bought a 2.7 ecoboost. Couldn't find a reasonable Chevy with the big cab configuration and V8. Finally a crewmax 4x4 Tundra showed up at my local dealer that was actually priced reasonable and CPO......but it was red, so I bought it.

Somewhere there was an article, something to the effect of ceramic turbos in ecoboost engines heatsoaking and either grenading or catching fire.

I’m trying to find more information

I highly doubt it as the fender lines are completely different. For you guys your options are ARB or dobinsons.

Yeah, that's what I've seen as the only options but figured I'd ask. If anywhere knew different it would be on here!

    A thing or two...
Heat soak isn't really a turbo specific problem. It's an issue with the intercooler not being able to disipate heat and intake air temps skyrocketing. Heat soak is caused by shitty airflow to the intercooler, an undersized intercooler, and an extremely inefficient turbo. The high intake air temps make detonation more likely to happen, especially if you're beating on it.

The information i heard seems does not even pertain to f150s. I learned that there was a recall on the 4cly ecojoke mustang for an oil hose leaking and eventually causing engine failure when they pump theirselves dry.

Also, that there was a recall on smaller ecojoke engines for multiple coolant leaks leading to overheating problems in the heads and or turbos.

escapes only, not a turbo issue, and has since been corrected

My cousins friends coworkers uncle's had an Eco Boost f-150 and had both turbos replaced with only 10k on the motor. Twas actually one of my close friends and I have no idea what the culprit ended up being. He was pissed because he bought it pre owned and barely put a few k miles on the truck before they went .

When I was looking at trucks I considered the 2.7 ecoboost. I had the 5.0 in a work truck and it wasn't my favorite for a truck motor. It liked to rev.
