    A thing or two...
Current Tundra brakes won't swap onto a Tacoma. Tundras are 5-lug now, so the rotors won't work.

2nd gen Tacoma can upgrade to 4th/5th gen 4Runner brakes in the front. I assume 3rd gen Tacoma can as well, but I don't follow 3rd gen stuff so can't say for sure.

Your correct, newer ones are now 5 lug. I have tundra brakes on both of my 4runners & my Tacoma. The 06 (or so) & older tundras were same lug pattern as our trucks.

The 199mm calipers are a direct bolt on. The bigger 231's just need a little trimming on the backing plates to clear. On our runners the rotor size is the issue, not the caliper but bigger is better.

What antenna are you using with the Baofeng radio?

There's a website where the guy really gets into the specs and comparisons etc but I'll save you the trouble.

For my external I bought this. That way it's temporary.

Authentic Genuine Nagoya UT-72 Super Loading Coil 19-Inch Magnetic Mount VHF/UHF (144/430Mhz) Antenna PL-259 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016SIJX28/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_PZRNCbK8EQ3Z4

Then just because the OEM is inadequate I bought this to replace it......

Authentic Genuine Nagoya NA-24J 16.2-Inch Ultra Whip VHF/UHF (144/430Mhz) Antenna SMA-Female for BaoFeng, Wouxun and Yaesu https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H2HOKI6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_n2RNCbFYX82EN

Again, the same guy rated this spec'd out as the best replacement. Now this is a seriously thin antenna and can bend easily so great outside the truck for strictly handheld operations but not so good inside the truck cause it's rather long.

Rule of thumb, longer is better. The external is the way to go for coms while you're mobile. I might eventually go with a fire stick but until then I wanted durable and superior!

Nice. So for the external, do you just run the cable through a window/ remove when you're not using it? Or do you have it permanently installed?

Yea, it's a small enough diameter to run it through the back slider window into the cab. The spring helps with branches. The magnet is serious!

Nice, I think I'm gonna ditch the CB idea and stick with HAM. Seems much simpler. I just finished installing my sound system a couple months ago and really dont feel like wiring shit up and worrying about grounds, etc. AGAIN. lol that can be a major pain in the ass

Yeah, no reason to hard wire a portable Han radio. Later if you feel the need there are some serious high end $$$$$$ mobile units you can hard wire.

Thing is, there will be times you'll want to be outside the truck, maybe as a spotter or while at a base camp, and portable is more versatile at that point. That's why I opted for the step up from the 5 to the 8. I wanted the best portable, and cheapest handheld out there.
