I work all week then up at my cabin every weekend. I still did some fishing, the Potomac river is a short ATV ride from my cabin. I throw a camping chair, small cooler, my tackle bag & rod in my sxs and fish at this secluded spot. Imo less stressful then dealing with a boat. Caught & released a good amount of smallmouth. At night this is a great catfishing spot.

That looks like fun. Part of my enjoyment comes from running the boat. I love being at the helm of anything whether it's 15 ft or 50 ft.

Funny you mention 'dealing' with a boat. The boat ramp is a nice place to pull up a chair and watch the action in the summer, especially opening day of rockfish or any given summer holiday weekend. I launch and retrieve my boat alone for the most part. It is actually more of a hindrance with "help" sometimes.

My first boat back when I was in my early twenties was a 19ft open bow i/o. Just had a 4cyl with a Alpha1. Had a lot of good times with that boat. You mentioning "boat ramp", one time I backed it down the boat ramp and forgot to put the plug in. I saw my buddy in my rear view mirror as I was pulling away waving his arms & yelling lol.

Oh that is classic. I've seen that more times than I can count.

Dude I sold my last boat to: first time he launches it, backs down the ramp and unhooks the entire trailer with the boat still strapped to it. Didn't put any dock lines on the boat. It floated out of the ramp and proceeded downriver! Some friendly bystanders ended up swimming to it and retrieving it for him.

I did this with a jet ski. Went riding around and all of a sudden it started sinking and not running anymore. Barely got it back to the ramp before it sunk under and I had to swim down to hook it up to the trailer to drag it out.

I was able to back the trailer under mine real quick and pull it out, no damage luckily.

Another boat story, same boat. Was at a night club with some friends. My buddies asked these girls if they wanted to go for a boat ride after last call. Now I was young, stupid & drunk. I backed my truck up to my boat, hooked up the safety chains only and dragged my boat up Fleet st for about 2 blocks before I heard the noise and saw the sparks. I then realized I was to drunk to go boating, parked the boat & truck and walked home.

I'm just glad a cop didn't see me. Dragging a boat & trailer up the street just by the chains at 2:30 in the morning is quit suspicious.
