My radio is in the center console.

Coax is run under the carpet, out the passenger floor, up into the frame, up in the passenger side rear wheel well, up into the bed rail and to the antenna. No ground is on the antenna, its on a powdercoated BAMF mount. Antenna is isolated by the nylon washers so that only the coax is touching it, metal to metal.

The power and ground are run under the center console to under the HVAC controls. The ground is run under the passenger side carpet to the wiring harness ground that is on the body of the truck, behind the passenger side kick panel.

The power runs the opposite direction, up under the steering column, out the firewall and straight to the power post inside my fuse box.

I can only get static on channels 1-40, no response from anyone when I request radio checks while sitting next to the interstate.

Weather channels 2 and 4 are almost crystal clear and sound perfect. I’ve ben listening to the NWA broadcasts on my way to work each morning.

Rob is about an hour and a half north of me. @RobP62 do you ever make it down to Baltimore or Annapolis?

I did not want to deal with all that wiring, antenna, space, etc. So I got portable radios, they both work great for trial/off road purposes:

Well, I can drop it off any day of the week so once Mason agrees and you tell me when I will just throw it in the trunk of the car and stop by on my way to work one day next week, or whenever.

I could grab it from @68dave before I go see Mason unless he would prefer to bring it to his cabin which is nearby. Whatever works for you guys

I live in Annapolis, work in Baltimore

Do not ground the antenna. Ground the BAMF antenna mount.

That's a HAM radio. Operates on the 2 m/ 70 cm bands. Same one I have, it's like $25 on Amazon. I have the bigger battery, upgraded antennae, and external speaker mic for it
