It looks good but I hates doing it! It took about 2-3 hours then let the Hydroslick cure for 3 then 1hr after for mirror finish and the ceramic spray

jealous.. i’ve been wanting to find time to do mine for like the last 3 weeks with no luck
only thing i was able to do was vacuum the 3 lbs of sand out from the beach trip

 

Drove a 32 and 24 ft ladder from Pasadena to Silver Spring using just the OEM roof rack. Was nervous having never put anything that awkward on the roof rack but worked out well.


Also checked out Money Muscle BBQ in downtown SS, which was really good but definitely more of an urban/city bbq style than southern/backcountry and now they have a more permanent patio/tent space with picnic tables, even if it is all asphalt.

 

Same here. Only I pushed it off a few days. Of course Saturday would have been the best day to do it, “cool” and shady all day. Unlike today, hot and bright sun.

Mornin' gents! Who else is tired af from the holiday weekend?

 

good afternoon fellas! I got the double cardan u-joints and DC joint centering ball ( gimble ball) from Powertrain Industries, the gimble looks to be a decent quality piece, the u-joints are just another disappointment. The grease fittings are on the cross, not the bearing cap and when I pressed a joint into a flange, there was about 1/8" of slop ( back and forth between the caps). There's no way that grease will take up that much play, so it looks like the whole lot is going back to the vendor. No use in keeping the gimble if a guy can't get a freeking decent quality u-joint for the double cardan joint.

Fuck you Toyota! You want to make it so that no one can repair the trucks, they just have to go and buy new assemblies instead. I guess it's time to buy a new driveshaft from Tom Woods, I don't know what else to do anymore.

Hey bud, it's going. I'm off the crutches for now and likely won't need surgery, which is good. Unfortunately I'm still in a boot and off work for another month and a half or so. Road rash healed up and wrist is good though, so maybe I'll have to do some work on the truck while I'm down.

I may have to take you up on that radio offer. I don't know if one is required for AOAA, I didn't see it on the site, but either way, I don't have one and it would probably be good to use one while I'm there

 

It’s not required to have one up at AOAA, but it’s a good idea to have one keep in communication with the group. Bass pro shop has a pair of Midland GMRS handhelds for like $50. I can’t remember whether it was Staples or Office Depot but one of them had a single Midland for $29.

 

Comms are not required but its nice to know what the rest of the herd is saying.

When me and my brother went up to the jamboree he didn’t have a radio. He kinda did a workaround with hands free Bluetooth. It was a kind a pain in the butt, but he could hear everything the guys were saying on the radio. He just couldn’t talk back to the rest of the group just me.. We did lose cell signal for about an hour out there.
