Hey fellers- just a question for the guys that have had the frame "schmutz" applied, or a frame replacement. Did the stealership give you a Taco as a loaner? I got handed a Corolla today when I dropped off my truck, not overly happy about it as it's difficult for me to get in and out of the darn thing. They didn't have anything else in the loaner fleet to give me.

Hanover Toyota in Hanover, PA. Koons is a lot closer to me but I had a bad dealing with them so I won't go back there.

Sounds like you just drew the short straw for time being. How long did they quote the frame replacement I want to say mine was like a week.

The corrosion treatment took 2 days at Bill Kidds. Was not offered a loner.

I was warned my brakes were 2 to 4 mm by Koons Westminster. Somehow 5K later they had gotten thicker. Glad I took them off before they got too thick.

Anyone know about the water leak recall on 3rd gens?

Hanover Toyoter claimed that they would have it done in 1 day, I haven't gotten a call yet so I'm keeping the Corolla until tomorrow afternoon to run errands. I initially took the Taco to Koons/Westminster to have it looked at, I was told that there was a fee for the inspection and that I had to pay for a loaner, which is complete BS. Toyota corporate completely reimburses the costs of the labor to inspect/ loaner vehicle, so I went to Hanover PA stealership.

After they looked at it ( I told them what happened at koons) they came back with the verdict that the frame just needed the coating and they would do it and provide a loaner at no cost to me, but their "courtesy" inspection reviled that I needed front brakes, mine weren't safe to leave the shop with and that I needed a rear output shaft seal on the t-case replace because it's 'gushing' oil and a few other items that they could do at the time of the frame coating for the measly sum of $3700.. I asked them how the brakes that I installed 2 months ago could possible be worn to the point of not being safe ( which, in reality they're perfectly fine) and that they needed to show me the massive oil leak that I somehow missed when I did an oil change a few weeks ago. They told me that they can't allow customers into the shop and that I should just trust them. Needless to say I didn't fall for the BS and sorta politely declined the 'needed' work.

If it weren't for the warranty aspect of having the frame sprayed, I would have just left after telling them how completely full of shit they are, but I needed the service done so I just told them what I thought of their bullshit scheme of flat out lying to a customer in order to steal money from them.

I f-ing hate stealerships, period. There isn't a single thing at this point of my life that will EVER change my attitude towards them. Once this truck is done with the frame spray, it's going away and I will just keep the old 4runner and a newer-ish sedan or hatchback to use for daily use, something that I can maintain myself unless I would be fortunate enough to find an honest guy like 68Dave to do the work that I would have a hard time doing myself.
