The funny part is the place I tried to start doing business with is a small shop. I was gonna have them quote some tires for the truck, but after that, nope. The one I'll keep using is much larger and attached to a dealership that deals in nice newer model vehicles. Guess it helps I've bought a couple vehicles from them. That and the countless sets of tires me and friends/family gotten from them.

I have a standard cab, so I think they might be too big for my truck which is a shame cause I have had sliders on my wishlist since I bought my truck.

I'd vote for annual inspections including vehicles with Historic tags. Way too many POS hoopties running around with those tags on piles of shit that belonged in a Crazy Rays yard 5 years ago.

I'm in the front of the line.. The $$ has been burning a hole in my pocket for a while now.

When I lived in Washington State, there were NO safety inspections of any kind, just emissions tests that had no exemptions. You had a certain amount of time to fix a failed emission inspection. If the vehicle still failed, ( regardless of how much $$ you spent on fixing it) your registration got suspended. Another odd thing- license plates stayed with a vehicle, the registration got transferred.

I loved having no "safety" inspections. When I left in 2008, WA only required emissions testing in Pierce, King and Snohomish counties - living in kitsap county gave me a pass, thankfully.

Because mechanical failure is probably not even 2% of the cause of traffic accidents, I think it's best to focus that energy on enforcing left-lane violators, raising speed limits, and stricter licensing :)

I drove daily, towed a small camper and a atv/utility trailer with historic tags for many years and never been stopped. I never ran a front tag and never been stopped. I drove all my classic cars for many years with unregistered tags, I kept the registered historic or street rod tags in the trunk. My 1970 elcamino had 1970 Md tags displayed on it that i bought at a swap meet. My 1965 Caddy had 1965 Md tags that I bought at 2nd hand store displayed on it. Never registered them. I drove my 68 chevelle from 2007 to 2022 with the original California plate and no plate on the front. I never worried about or had any issues. Of course they all were legally registered & fully insured in my name, they just displayed bogus or historic tags.

Hurts my brain that 90s Camrys are eligible for historic tags.

Plates staying with the car is a west coast thing. I don’t like it. Too many stories out there of “I sold my car, the buyer refused to put it in their name and ran up a bunch of tickets against me.”

We have a right to travel freely on public highways. That includes operating a motor vehicle for non-commercial transport of your personal property. I propose less strict licensing requirements and harsher penalties for property damage and injury cause by negligent driving.

I don't mind paying a registration fee once every two years. It helps pay for road maintenance.
Almost wouldn't mind a safety inspection every 3 - 5 years. There are some VERY questionable vehicles on the road. Hell, I've even drove one or two in the past.

How many different taxes do you need to pay for road maintenance? We already pay a gas tax, federal, state and local taxes that all contribute to road maintenance costs.
