    Apparently I still do things the hard way! Nice tool to have. I used to wrap a thin sheet of styrene plastic like a tube over the CV joint to help slide the new boots into place.

    Where did you find the Tokico shocks? I'm looking for rear shocks now so that I can burn in the outboard rear upper mounts. The stock 80 series shocks have 1" more travel then the stock 3rd gen 4runner shock.

    A buddy of mine back in Baltimore gave me some taxidermy. My uncle delivered it all to me today. After I do the interior paint work at the other cabin I now have some wall hangers for decoration.

    Really weird day yesterday... got turned down by 2 shops to balance my 285/75 r16 General Grabber MTs saying they were too big/heavy.

    One shop was my normal go to shop (who balanced the same tires on a different set of wheels two years ago - i just got new wheels) and then a Firestone right after. WTF!! I've run this size tire for almost 20 years and not once have had this issue. Firestone even told me a need an 'off road balance'.... huh? After pressing harder for an explanation they said it was a road force balance... had to Google that too.

    Can anyone explain what is going on? And more importantly... recommend a shop for me to go to to get these 'oversized tires' properly balanced in the DMV? I know there are a couple custom truck shops in the region that I'm assuming can do this... but is that really necessary? They aren't terribly close to me and these tires aren't even that big.

    I just had Extra Mile Performance in Odenton do an alignment for me and they did a fantastic job. I guess you could consider them an “off road” shop, they do a lot of stuff on lifted trucks and 4x4’s. I’m sure they could do it for you.

    Not sure where you live but Bens Tire in Joppa can do it. They service commercial trucks and can balance any size wheel/tire combo.
