i change it at 4-4.5k. i have been driving a lot since i moved to texas about a year ago, since everything is spread out, but in the grand scheme of things it's really not that bad. i fill up about once a week, and that costs me about $60 each time. so the $75 it costs for an oil change that i only have to do every few months isn't anything in comparison.

I think that may be what is in my diffs. Still not %100 sure but it was expensive, i told him to make it synthetic and to use whatever brand he recomends. I forget what brand they told me and i can't read the guy's handwritting.

what shop did you take it to. it'd be rare that anywhere other than a race/performance shop of some sort would keep redline on hand. with labor/markup, a redline oil change at a shop would probably be a good $100.
    anything's possible though.

It was over $400 for the f/r diffs, trans, and t-case.

And the guy does build race cars. I doubt that it is redline but i sure as shit can't read it

transmission alone was probably half of that $400, assuming a full flush and fill vs a 3 quart drain and fill.

and gear oil can be expensive. redline for the diffs is $16, and then i think the transfer case stuff is the same price and the engine oil. price you paid seems fair.

Yes, i had a full flush and fill. I was very happy. It was done by people i know and its the only place i go for such work.

It wasn't at their shop 5hours. I was pleased; i know i didn't have the time to do it or i would've done at least the rear diff myself.

Damn full synthetic is pricey. $54 for 6 quarts at pep boys. I do get a $35 voucher in the mail every 90 days from Toyota though for whatever I want to use it on.. Essentially got 5 oil filters for free today!

for the transmission, use Toyota fluid. if he's just pulling the plug on the bottom and refilling it, it'll only be about 3 quarts. you will be able to put more in it, but that will be overfilling it. make sure he knows that.

    Hell yea.

Used the last one on cabin and engine air filters and spark plugs for my 30k maintenance. It's a program that was $600 added to the cost of the vehicle, but it's guaranteed free loaners anytime my vehicle needs to go in the shop overnight, free towing to this Toyota dealer from within 15 miles, $35 vouchers every 90 days, and a few other little things. Most of it is more of an "if I need it, it'll be good to have" type thing, but the vouchers themselves will pay for it all within 2 years, and it's good for the lifetime of the truck.
