How often that actually happen doe? The fact that i've never heard of it makes me not feel so bad about it.

Also makes me feel uneasy about dig launches :(
    Thanks Colin -_-

    Here's a question:

Took my tacoma in for its 15k yesterday. They called me and said my alignment was out of spec (which I expected as it wasn't tracking good) and my rear brakes needed to be serviced and cleaned and they were "approaching the red."

I had them do both services but thought the brakes were an odd one. 15k I should not have rear brakes worn that much. I can definately feel a difference from before, it use to dive pretty hard in the front like only the front disks were braking and not the rear drums.

lol. did launches will certainly put some stress on it.
they don't go bad very often. they;re pretty bulletproof, like the rest of the auto trans. if you've ever driven on the highway with a heavy load or up a grade and you feel the truck downshift what feels like "half a gear", but not all of the way to 4th gear....that's the torque converter taking up all of the extra rotation. the byproduct there is friction and of course heat, so while it may burn a little more fuel, if you find yourself engaging the torque converter like that a lot, it's better to jsut shift into 4th gear for the hill ahead of you or whatever is causing it.

I think my transmission has given up down shifting for me, i have done it myself for so long.....i don't feel it dow shift during braking very often.

That half a gear feeling is a real thing. I once had it in between 2nd and 3rd and it was still going with no indication on the dash...i was pretty freaked out by it actually

If they were out of adjustment for a while, they'd wear out sooner. But its unlikely. I'd ask to see the parts they removed.

Its good practice to ask for the old parts back anyway, a lot of times you can catch stuff before it causes a problem by looking at what you just replaced, as well as making sure the shop actually did its job.

Alright, I heard I should just get the trans fluid exchanged, not flushed because then crap sitting on the bottom of trans will get kicked up and stuff. Idk when or if the trans has been serviced so yerp. I'll probably go to the dealership for the trans from what people have said? Anyone can exchange the trans fluid, but need special tool to flush completely?

I want to do the same thing, idk how I'd mount them though, and I don't really feel like using money to get them right now

First time i did it was with t-slot nuts from fastenal, stainless bolts and washers from lowes, and a two pack of quickfists from Amazon. I had to trim the quickfists because my bolts were so huge

This time i want to try the 4x inovations mounts, should lend a much cleaner result. But my axe still looks bad ass and is always right where i need it instead of flopping around in the back seat.

Does the Toyota auto trans have a clutch pack the way GM transmissions have?

    :D

A lot of GM transmissions failures are the failure of the clutch pack for the 3 to 4 gear shift...I would assume that Toyota might be the same.
