Because they are cheap. To cheap to fully hydro dip frames and provide adequate rust prevention. If they can't do that, then they won't give you an adequate amount of tie down points

 

no, the frame rust issue was due to poor quality control by the frame manufacture, Toyota didn't even know about the frame rust issue with the second gens until recently, and IIRC they have switched to a new frame manufacture.

The 2014s i have seen have all had painted frames. Gloss black. I wish so badly i had the time and patience to restore mine. I have no issues, only surface rust, definitely still salvageable :|

 

Well come off roading this weekend we can speed up the rusting of it so you can get it replaced under the 5year warranty

 

Negative. I don't think i'd let them. I would want them to bring me the frame, let me fully coat it to death with about 75,000,000 layers of rust encapsolator and paint then let them install it while i watch.

And how do you figure i'm still in the 5 year window? My truck will be 7 years old in august. Power train warrantee expires in september

I wonder if you could buy just the frame for your truck from somewhere? IMO my dream vehicle would be an ACLB taco body and frame with a turbo 4 cylinder that is easily rebuild able/upgrade-able, same thing with the trans, so that i can take the whole thing all the way apart and back together again myself with limited special tools, and it can be built MY way.
