It seems like this is one of the most active threads on here, always see it one the main page.
Just bought a 1st gen that spent its early years in Maryland, little surface rust but she's solid.
Anyways, greetings from a new member in California.

    @Neal4x4

Good morning Neal and welcome to TW! And good morning MD.

I was just in SoCal the first week in Sept to visit family. I'm back in Delaware and back to work.

Several east coast/tri-state area threads are active...some more than others:

    #1 MD
    #2 PA
    #3 NJ
    #4 DE

If you get a chance to go to local meet-up, I suggest going.

We had one here in Delaware and it turned out great!

That is freaking awesome! LMK if you need someone to chop down trees, lumberjack would be a great career change.

So this upcoming trip has some plusses and minuses.

Plus: New camera gear I "need". New Camping/outdoor gear I "need". If we furlough, my leave will be non-charged.

Minus: New camera geaer I "need" costs money. New camping/outdoor gear I "need" also costs money. Possible TSA issues could mean 4hour waits at security. The airline I use doesn't do TSAPrecheck - and I dunno why.

Why thank you! Here's my thread if you'd like to see what I do.

I think a lumberjack would be a rather satisfying career. :)

Adding to aviation, ATC (air traffic control) seems to be a good career. Does take some luck to get into though. See here:

From what you’ve posted, your career was not found through USAjobs, but other, uhh, more permanent means in which you cannot simply quit if the wind blows the wrong way

Oh ok. I kind of figured with the “I move every year” thing that it was the military shipping you around and around and around.

But USAjobs.gov USAjobs.com is a good recommendation. Just requires patience. Immense amounts of patience.

USA Jobs is good too, found my current job on there haha. I just need to work with my hands vs clacking on a keyboard behind a cubicle!

Wildland firefighting is a hard career. Very tough on you, mentally and physically

Just know that if you decide to go the route
