Could your alternator have gotten messy?

I thought so, but I drove home from AOAA Sunday, and she ran fine yesterday so it was still charging. I bought the truck in 2020 and haven't replaced the battery yet. Who knows if the original owner ever did, either.

If you need to borrow a jump-starter thing, I have one at the house, until you get a new battery.

Thanks, brother. I'm going to see how well she starts after work today and pick up a new battery on the way home. I have one or two coworkers willing to jump my truck back here so, fingers crossed, I shpuld be able to make it to Auto Zone on 40 for a battery test and probable replacement

Has anyone replaced their 24F battery with a larger battery, with more CCA? Curious about looking into a 27

I just have to say my truck continues to impress me. I'm pretty much stock and just have tires. It handled the greens at aoaa just fine.

I may call upon your support at the craft center whenever I get around to ordering my suspension kit. By far one of the best benefits of this place

Yup. Planning it out with memario based on truck, skids, bumpers, and sliders weight. Lift and stiffen. It's like lift and separate, but for trucky

    Who all likes mysteries!?

Ran at AOAA Saturday where it was nice a d wet, definitely hit some deeper water. Truck ran fine Saturday. Started and ran fine Sunday. Started and ran fine Monday.

Truck didn't start this morning. Jumped it and it started. Drove 45 mins to work and parked. Went to leave work at 4, wouldn't start. Checked voltage with my multimeter, read 12V. Jumped it. Drove to Auto Zone who did a battery test, battery good, apparently. So is the alternator and starter.

My best guess is there is a short somewhere slowly draining battery. When the truck is running, there is a slight buzzing in the right aide of the engine bay when looking at it from the grille. Have no idea where it's coming from though. Couldn't find it in the 10 minutes I checked.

Do you have a digital volt meter? You could test the voltage with the engine off, then switch to amps and see if there's a draw. My vote goes to the starter solenoid since it's in a lower spot then the alt. Douche it off with some WD-40 and a few 'tappy-tap-taps' with a small ford wrench.

That's what I'm planning in the morning. Battery is disconnected overnight to see if it's dead in the morning. Before I connect it though, I'll connect the positive and bridge the negative terminal and sonnector with my multi to see if there's a draw. This should tell me in the morning wjether the battery drains itself overnight and needs replaced AND if there's a parasitic draw somewhere. If there's a draw, then when I get to work, I'll bring a pair of clamps to override the door-open sensors and leave my fob in the building. That way, I shpuld be able to isolate the draw on my break by pulling fuses to see what drops the draw. With any luck, I should be able to isolate a circuit. That's where the fun begins :bananadead:

Other question is just how easy it will be to get to that starter since Toyota didn't exactly make it accessible lol

I honestly have no idea, as I have never seen under the hood of a 3rd gen Taco ( or looked up from underneath, for that matter.) I got the "poverty trim" 2nd gen w/ the 4 banger. :D
