Probably one of the coolest new scanners… Matco Maximus 5.0

Connects via a Bluetooth hub that is in the truck plugged into OBD port.

 

Time to tighten and clean

 

So today started a new issue with my truck that i’ve never experienced before. I used 4wd Hi and Low off and on a couple times yesterday with no issue and this morning with no issue. Then this afternoon two separate times in which i wanted to use it, i had to shut the ignition completely off, turn the knob, then turn the truck back on and it would automatically shift into 4wd. Now, it will come out of it just fine….but every single time i want to go INTO 4wd, i have to shut the truck off and turn it back on. Very frustrating.

I used to have the same problem with my 2000 4runner and it eventually jusr started working properly before i sold it

 

Stupid question… but are you in a drive gear while trying to shift? I always switch to either Park or Neutral before I switch the 2nd/4wd.

 

But of course. Nothing made a difference until i turned the ignition off and back on

 

Got ya… didn’t know if it did it in all the shift pattern gears. Yea, that’s a real thinker…??

 

I’m just going to pull some connectors and put some dielectric grease in to see if that helps

Ran into two issues yesterday:

1) I guess taking it off, I lost 5 out of the 8 "sliders" I need. Only forums I found on here said use T bolts for a quick fix, but I'm skeptical

2) The nuts I bought at home Depot for the mounting rails fit the screw, but is a little too thick to slide into the rail to secure it (attached is how it should look)

Any pointers?

 

I’d just call 4WD Parts and order the kit… ask them if they can put it out 1st Class or something faster than “snail mail”. Do it right with right parts and you can avoid the headache of bending or tweaking something… then you’ll be in worse of a pickle.

 

Evening all… wife and I went out on the lake for a few hours before the storms started coming in. She tanned and rested while I fished most of the day. Not a lot of action, lost of bites and a couple yellow perch. Water temp is finally dropping, was about 73 today!

 

Seems like it was a perfect day for fishing!

I put some miles on the new 33” all terrains and added some new patches to the truck.

 

That's def the most ideal route, only issue is their out of stock for 60-90 days. I contacted them to see if maybe just the sliders were in stock, not hopeful tho
