Its a really simple job to do, if you can use a grinder it should be easy enough to cut it out.

 

Yea I can use a grinder I'm not worried about the cutting it's the welding the plate back in part that's a problems

 

Well definitely cut it out then. You can still drive around without any issues. That will take your price at a welding shop down to under $50, if its just welding and you have the plates fitted its a $25 job and takes about 10min.

 

What company do you work for? that's dirt cheap compared to what i was quoted.

All of the shops near me told me it was anywhere from 150-250 to just weld a bed bar together, and a cmc is in the $400 range.

 

I work for a family run welding/fab shop in Clinton. You must have went to a big fab shop that doesn't do walk in work to often. Sounds like you got quoted high to run you off or they are busy. If we were set on a job with a dealine, and someone needed a cmc done asap it would be $3-400 job. We are a $90 a hour shop rate.

 

ah, yeah, that sounds about right. there is no dedicated fab shop, all of the places around me do more of the large scale fabrication, they don't deal with small projects too much... probably why i got a stupid quote like that. may have to swing by your shop if i need anything

 

Eddy from SOS has pre made plates pretty cheap get those ahead of time that way the shop doesnt charge you extra

 

Yeah just hit me up on here, I can do most things from my house but I can also use our shop whenever I need.

Anyone here drive the lifted white 1st gen with a leer cap I saw at dumsers in ocean city last night? Nice truck. Lol just saw a guy drive a lifted black 2nd gen past the restaurant and it reminded me
