Eh, anybody know whats under the chrome on the front grille? im not a fan of derp either but i dont trust the color match paint to match a seven year old truck.

ive looked at his, i didn't see one where he took the chrome off to reveal whats underneath, im wondering what all i can use to paint it that wont look like crap

 

I never paint over chrome.

 

i figured you wouldnt, but im trying to figure out if its worth just taking some sandpaper and 3 years of my time to remove the chrome and hit it with some grey spray paint or not. i don't want to start sanding just to find out the chrome dosent come off or something stupid like that

 

This is key.^^^ I wanted to just switch the surrounds out but don't trust myself to do the plastic work. Thats why i put in for the best

 

I just told the same thing to another member - best bet for a DIY grill mod is to just buy a OEM color matched one & go to town on it. Way more durable than messing w/ chrome.

 

Buy colormatched and leave it on. Or just talk to Mr. Craig about "DA LIST"

 

figures... sadly i actually like the stock grill style, just hate the chrome otherwise i would go for a Homer Special

I can make a stock color matched grill pretty easily. No one ever asks for them though.

i would, but i gotta be honest, what got me into these trucks was an almost stock TRD Sport indigo ink DCLB with a mid travel kit running trails in a place that looked like MOAB in a video one of my friends sent me, i instantly wanted one, and have been obsessed with replicating that truck with my own twists.. it was badass.

 

LOL That is the truth.

Do yourself a favor. Pick out the one you like, put your name on the list, and start saving $10 a week. When it is your build time you will have the cash. This worked for me.
