Maybe for some, me, my wife, our son, our daughter, and her (future) husband, never learned how to drive an automatic. :p

I get it, but don’t totally agree. Modern automatics are generally superior to manuals. I test drove multiple manual Taco’s. No matter how hard I tried, just couldn’t get behind it.

Signed, a guy who dailies a manual

I don’t think so. It’s on the property line of a house. Rough looking place.

Hard to tell these days with used prices, LOL !

I've been going past that thing for the past 6 years. There's a state salvage decal on the side. I was never able to figure out if it's on private or state property.

So I have a not truck related problem and I’m wondering if any of you guys or gals have a suggestion for a solution.

The heat in my house runs on oil so every once in a while I have to have the oil tank refilled. The company I use has repeatedly filled the tank without my permission and then left a bill that I am forced to pay.

There is a years long back story to this but I’ve tried multiple companies and they all do the same shady thing. Fill it up without asking and then leave a bill in your mailbox and roll out before you even notice.

Can anyone suggest some sort of locking box or cage I could put on the external oil filler? It’s just a small pipe that runs out of my house and is accessible on the exterior. I figure if I put a metal cage of some sort with a lock on it, this will solve my problem.

I’ve repeatedly asked the various companies to stop auto filling my tank but they all still do it and then essentially say “whoops, sorry we didn’t know” when I call to complain. After doing some research it seems like a well known scam in that industry.

What about placing a sign on the pipe that says “Do NOT fill. Please contact homeowner”

Yeah that’s definitely the first thing I’m going to do.

I have been searching around the internet trying to find something that would fit over the pipe and could be locked but I can’t find anything that would work. I just don’t trust that these scumbags will pay attention to a sign.

I’ve read numerous threads on the interwebs (mostly on Reddit) where people had the same issue repeatedly and were considering legal action against the companies but I’m definitely not investing that much time and money into this issue lol

Go all redneck. Wrap a chain around it with a padlock on the end or something.

That might be what I resort too lol

I’ve also considered covering it with like a bear trap or something of that nature…

Since we are on the topic of houses. With the high winds we've had lately, I noticed a shingle on the roof has blown off. I can fix the shingle myself, but I'm sure I'm do for a new roof. Can anyone recommend a decent roofer that won't rip me off?
