There is no place 6 miles from PHL that I’d like to live… too many people and traffic

    Dang Eric!

    70 miles one-way is insane.

I'd be in an Air-B&B for the week...but that probably wouldn't be OK/do-able with the family.

Have you looked on FB Marketplace?

Man, you are in a pickle.

    Sure am lol.

it’ll be annoying but alright. Just gotta get used to it.

I'd be looking to lighten my truck and watch my pedal control...definitely use cruise control and "D" so that you are in 6th gear on the hwy.

Makes no sense to finance a brand new one and kill it in depreciation from all of the commuting miles. A used beater Civic that you drive until it dies then rinse and repeat. A good buddy of mine lives in Glyndon ( north end of Reisterstown) and commutes to Andrews AFB everyday. That guy can put some miles on a car!

I liked the idea of that. Wife thinks new=reliable and old isn’t. We were also considering it something my kid can get in a few years when it’s time for him to drive and reassess then.

That would be a lot of work lol. Engine skid, sliders, bed mat and roof rack. Already planning to swap the wheels/tires and see what that does. I don’t expect a whole lot. If like to be able to get 2 days before needing to fill up

I'm almost reluctant to ask what your duty hours are...lol!

    I'm 7am-3pm/M-F and I set alarm for 5:30am when I don't have stand-by duty.

I set the alarm 30 minutes earlier on the week I have to be at 7am Maintenance Production Meeting.

I give myself 15 minutes to get to work...you have over an hour of driving...one way!

    It's a good thing you're young...lol

Usually it’s 6-230. We’ve been told we can have our core hours anytime from 5am-8pm.

Planning to start doing 5-130. Will have to wake up at 330 and put the door by 345. It’s gonna suck till I get used to hit but will don’t I gotta do.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

This is EXACTLY why I would do an AirB&B...to save my sanity of getting up so early.

The guys at work are older than me and love to report to work at 6am...they both live 15-20 miles away so they get up earlier just to be there.

They tell me they don't sleep well...I think they have anxiety (but won't admit it) and live to get away from their home lives.

As for me, I don't mind reporting in 1hr later and staying till 3pm...which to me is still early!

They want to be done by 2pm and I'm cool with them leaving and me closing shop.

I guess it's what you're willing to sacrifice.

My wife and I had discussed this before and she would be cool with me doing AirB&B during the week if the job paid well.

EDIT: Thank Goodness I'm only 5 miles one-way.

Yeah, I want to be gone with the least disruption and spend time with wife and kid… not that kid wants to spend time together anymore

I also don’t sleep well so no big deal. Traffic is lighter during the commute. Just those damn deer…

That's our difference...we are Empty Nesters with Kitties to look after.

You've got duties to fulfill and that complicates your commute.

You gotta do what you gotta do...more power to you brother!

Well between that and the wife not wanting a used car….It sounds like some more lights are in order for the Taco. Maybe a lighter tire than the Baja Boss? Maybe a supercharger? Idk just spitballing here.
