Thanks. I actually had it spooled with new Berkley, 4#, by the salesman. It's ready to slay the panfish.

I picked that Lews up at Dicks for $50. Then he spooled it for me, charged for new spool of line. Couldn't beat it

…depending on the water color and thickness of the line. The lake is like clear spring water. I’d think the tint of the fire line would definitely be more visible.

Ugly Sticks were awesome back in the day! Used to have an awesome lifetime warranty… you break it, they’d replace it!

I still have one my dad bought me when I was maybe 10? So it’s around 30 years old-ish. Still fishes like new! I have a couple old Shimano reels from that era too, still working.

I can’t say that there are really as good as they once were. Technology has definitely gotten much better as far as composite and glass rods go… not sure they’ve kept up. I’ve whipped that Ugly Sticks CARBON around in the store… not a lot of action to it.

But the kids in me likes to think they are still the trusted brand they once were.

if your fishing clear water, fluro is much better, not sure of cost differences, and, you can always tie 10-15 feet of fluro to fireline...good luck

I looked while at Dicks earlier and didn’t see any… figures!

As for cost, I’m not sure. I buy 1,000 yard spoils of 12lb SeaGuar for about $85-100 each.

And yes, I always run a braid backer… line (good line) is too damn expensive just to waist a 1/2 a spoil every time.
