    if theres every anyone in the montgomery county/rockville area there is a meet and greet every other week. all cars and trucks welcome. i go every other week with a few other truck guys, id love to see some more tacos out there. and if you also have in interest in cars, muscle, tuner, bikes, few super cars, its a perfect place to see some pretty legitimate cars, very few ricers lol

    Care to share any details you have on the soft topper? I'm trying to figure out if I want a full-time topper and this seems like it might be useful for something like a camping trip. What's your use and what are your thoughts for pros or cons on yours? Thanks.

    Sure. I was debating a hard cap vs a soft cap vs just a rolling/folding cover that only sat right above the truck bed. Whatever I decided on, I knew about 80% of the time I didn't want it to be "deployed", whatever option I got. I do a good amount of camping and also carry items I'd rather not be in the truck bed getting soaking wet when it's raining. It came down to the following for me:

    - Hard cap
    * Pros: more of a finished look, easy to access with windows, more "secure"
    * Cons: more difficult to remove when I didn't need it (moving furniture for example)

    - Soft cap
    * Pros: easy to collapse, can flip up sides when camping and basically have a covered area with easy access.
    * Cons: not as secure as a hard top, difficult to set up in cold (only the first time from my experience though)

    - Rolling/folding cover
    * Pros: Easy to install, slick appearance
    * Cons: Not enough storage

    I went with the softopper instead of the besttop because I didn't want the hassle of dealing with the windows on the sides since you have to remove and store them when the cap isn't up. Yeah there are blind spots since the back window is essentially useless with the softopper but it's manageable; I'm not driving a sports car.

    Overall I'm very pleased with the softopper. I installed it when it was roughly 50 degrees out. It took a couple of days to do a button-by-button snap down of the canvas since it was cold and hadn't stretched yet. But now it goes on pretty easy every time.

    I have half-assed put on the seam-sealer on the inside of it. I'm waiting for another rain to see how much more I need to put on it since it wasn't leaking that badly to begin with. I'll probably spray some nikiwax on the outside next to double-up on my sealing.

    Sorry for the long post. This may be a little too much to be in the maryland thread.

    So I met up with Craig (Homertaco) yesterday so he could test fit a hollowed out 2012 grill to determine the direction he needs to go...Hopefully it has motivated him to finish it and get everybody off of his back...
