    April 22nd I'm going to Trails Rd if anyone else is tryin'. Buddy of mine bought a Cummins powered TJ that we'll be testing out. Should be a good time. And my truck will be there too, of course, with a few new parts. Welding on sliders and dropping in a Warn winch tomorrow:cool:

    And I'm in for Sunday get togethers. Drink a little beer.....see what kind of trouble we can get into:D

    Check out harbor freight, either the store or harborfreight.com. They have the cheapo spring compressors for $15.00. I used to have the $60 one and it worked pretty well, lost it the last time I moved.

    So I welded on sliders yesterday. I don't really like the way they look but they will definitely do the job. After that, I installed a new in box Warn 8000lb winch that I picked up in Hagerstown for a good deal. Good thing I got the winch yesterday because 98regstick got buried in a creek last night and I had to winch him out:rofl:

    I got the cheaper VR8000. From the specs its 6 pounds heavier and 13fmp slower with no load than the M8000

    It's true. Thank you, open diffs.

    However, I think its worth noting that out of a group of F150s and Jeeps, only the Yotas had the dice to hit the creek :cool:

    Edit: I am a douche. I have been sitting here thinking why/how could my truck, a toyota tacoma (perhaps one of the most capable 4x4s off the lot), get stuck in a creek? Then it hit me after some reading: i was using 4-Lo. Big mistake. 4-Lo offers no traction aides whatsoever, so it truly is open diffs. Sitting in the creek, i'm thinking "man, there's nothing i can do except let FailRated winch me out." It didn't even occur to me to try 4-Hi with some traction aides. wonder why that never crossed my mind...:drunk:

    Moral of the story, 4-Hi probably would have gotten me out now that i think about it. Fortunately, an inexpensive (carwash) yet slightly embarassing lesson to learn. Also, for those interested, there is a "4-Lo trac"/yellow wire mod floating around for those without lockers (us SR5 and Sport guys).
