So, my damn boss called me in to work at the last fucking minute this morning, meaning i couldn't work on the truck until i got home at 8. My dad, being an ex mech, tried to do the brakes himself, and got the whole passenger side done, brake hose and all, with no issues. he discovered that not only is the passenger caliper shot, the driver side has a frozen piston... so i pick one up on my way home, and we set to installing it after dinner. We get the caliper off fine, and he has already swapped the rotor. pull caliper, grease and install new caliper, install pads, all goes great. get the brake line and hose off on the caliper side, fucking truck side wont let go of the hose and in the process of working it loose the line breaks, meaning that my truck now wont move an inch until i build another brake line and get the new hose hooked up. to top it all off, the line, even clamped shut with a C-clamp, is still slowly leaking fluid, so i may have to tow it to the dealer tomorrow morning. Great fucking start to my weekend.

 

Could be worse. You could have went to work at 4 am and literally just got home... I'm ready for bed! If you need help, hit me up on my cell. I'm around tomorrow.

Will be a slow build but I started designing an offroad teardrop style camper. It'll have all items needed to go off the grid.

 

I think ill be alright, just pissed that a 3 hour job took all day and still isnt done, it seems my truck just wants to fight me all the time

Yeah, biggest problem is the freaking brake line, not looking forward to making a custom brake line tomorrow morning. Also not to mention im already in this almost $400 in parts and im not done yet

Meh, Oh, forgot to mention that apparently the alignment on the passenger side has been out for some time, and now the driver side is out, meaning i have to guy 2 new front tires before i can get the alignment corrected.... when it rains it pours

 

Very true. Might as well get some 285'sleep all the way around, say Duratracs!

IDK, probably gonna be treadwright something or other, no money for decent new ones, its all going into the brake system....

 

Nothing wrong with treadwright dude. Friend of mine ran 285/75-17 with an E rated tire. Took it wheeling a lot, never an issue.

 

Anthony (@PSU Taco85 ) has a set of good 285 75 r16 Toyo MT's you could pick up for $300.00 I think...

Ah, ive seen mixed reviews, but if they hold up well, i wouldn't mind using them, im just worried about finding a shop that is willing to mount/balance/install them. and id love to go up to that size, but i doubt they would fit considering im not lifted

 

Yea the 285 still around. They will fit a stock truck with minor trimming

 

I got 285's under my buddy Brian's truck with a CMC and a bit of trimming on the fender flares. Took 45min to knock out.

Super simple.

 

define minor? and what do they have left life wise in them?
