Hope Mobtown doesn't get the same grief that this guy is getting.

Guess selling a Taco for a Ford is a sin here on TW.

Use paint thinner or if you can get your hands on some MEK, I would use that. Make sure you wear gloves, eye protection and do it in a ventalated area.

No, but mainly because I didn't sit there and bash my Taco for a Ford. I REALLY liked my Tacoma and I WILL be getting another Toyota in the future but most likely a 4Runner now that the family is growing. I love 4Runners too, wife's parents own a 4th and 5th gen and they're both great, although I like the 4th more. The 5th seem like soccer mom kid haulers too me. Not a fan of the body lines or how big they look.

As far as going to a Ford, so far I love my Escape. I did not go with an EcoBoost. The cost increase was not justifiable for me. I went with the 2.5L for many reasons. I know how to work on cars, but turbos I am clueless. It was $3k less, MPG real world average so far is 31 mpg and that is doing 65 mph almost everywhere. All my driving is 95% highway. The tow rating is 2500lbs in the 2.5L vs 2000lbs in the 1.6L. Not that it is going to be a tow rig but knowing I can pull the trailer to/from Lowes and a small boat to the river then I'm happy. I went with a base model and it is basically loaded IMO. Power everything, SNYC, more buttons than a space shuttle, power outlets all over the place, and the back seats recline! That seems so simple but because they recline a 6'2" tall person like myself fits comfortable behind the driver seat that is set where I drive.

The cargo area is big enough for 2 large dogs which was my other test. I am having a class 3 hitch put on it for the trailer, bike rack and cargo rack and will be getting weathertechs for all seats and cargo area and a roof rack from most likely Rhino Rack. Thule is nice but damn, it is almost twice the money! So yes, the Escape fits my life perfectly for now and if a 4Runner got 30+ MPG and wasn't over $30k I would've bought one. Paid $20,500 for the Escape, hard to beat that price. Came with oil changes, tire rotations, car washes and an engine garaunteed for the life that I own the vehicle. That was a dealer perk, not a Ford perk.

I looked at a Rav4 but they were a lot more money, for less options, less room and similar MPG. I know the Rav4 would have held its value better but with the mileage that I will be putting on the vehicle, I wasn't worried about resale.

So for now, I will still be here, building parts. My business partner has a 2014 DCSB that we will continue to use and hopefully a local guy will go with a 3rd gen Taco and be willing to let us pull it apart.

I was wondering where the eff you've been! I still owe you money and don't want you to break my kneecaps. I'm up for another one in October. I am booked the month of Sept.

Was that OTD (taxes, registration, etc)?

What did you get for your Taco as trade-in?

The Escape does seem like a good deal.

Out the door was just under $23k. I got $19,500 for the truck trade in, owed $19,200.

I've found a post for offroading gear and tips. But it's more geared towards gear for the truck and less about gear for you.
