Last time I washed one of my vehicles like that (clay bar and all), a dump truck totaled it the following morning. I gave up washing my vehicles after that.

Speaking of detailing.... what do you guys recommend as far as cutting compounds go? ive got a bunch of shit embedded in the top layer of the clear coat plus
what do you use for detailing? I seem to have a bunch of stuff embedded in the clearcoat, especially in the rocker panels, not sure weather a claybar will get it or if i need to go cut/polish the clearcoat

I'll take some pics of the stuff I use when I get home. I've had awesome success with using claybars, it is ABSURD how much stuff comes out of your clear coat when you use one... I always thought my truck was clean, then I started claying.

If you don't know how to run an orbital buffer, just stick to claybar. You'd be amazed what claybar will pull out of paint.

If you aren't confident with a buffer, you risk burning through the clear coat or leaving swirl marks all over the paint.

Can anyone recommend a shop that can properly install an ARB w/ new gears without charging an arm and a leg? I will of course be bringing them the complete third to save on labor.

For starters, no idea where that top part came from, that was not there when i hit send....

and im definitely not proficient with an orbital buffer, so it sounds like a claybar is the answer, provided thats something that can be done in direct sunlight, as my driveway is exposed to the sun from sunrise to sunset and i have no other place to park it

CNC or hand? What kind did you go with? We're in the process of considering buying our own CNC plasma table.

If you are taking the 3rd out yourself, just buy a complete 3rd with the gears and locker from East Coast Gear Supply.

I think this weekend I'm going to take off the bed and finishing rust sealing and painting the ass end of my frame / axle / etc. Looks like the perfect overcast weather for it. @SquirrelyPatriot you want to join, I know you were looking to do rust prevention? Hell anyone can join, my grill still has propane in it for grilling.

@Mobtown Offroad I'd invite you, but you live further away than Mordor...

Haha, I'd be there in a second but will be away all weekend in my buddies wedding. I am in Baltimore 6 days a week for work, what's one more day?
