Can't decide whether I should get the Toytec or All-Pro U Bolt Flip Kit... the All pro comes assembled, but the Toytec has the option for Energy Suspension bump stops... but the installation directions make no sense.

What is assembled about them? Isn't it just a plate and two u-bolts?

The All-Pros have the option for Timbren bumpstops. Is there a major difference between these and the Energy Suspension bumps? The Timbrens are pricey.

I don't need timbrens because I don't do high speed off road, most of my driving at Rausch is less than 3mph.

EDIT: Called Toytec, they clarified the stops attach to the frame and not the axle, placing my order :D

from an engineering standpoint, the toytec kit is designed better. if you look at the plate, you can see they've bent up the ends. this reduces the stress raiser that you get at the end of a straight cut plate. it'll slow spring sagging over time, but more importantly, it cuts down the risk of snapping leaf springs.

now, while the above is true, the affect is minimal for an application like yours. so while it makes a difference, it's not a big one.

Myself, and I'm sure Joe too, can weld on tabs for whatever bump stops you want, or even drill and tap holes in the plate.

named it stroker, because it sounded like a big block chevy haulin ass down a drag strip as it left me.

timbrens are actually pretty terrible at speed. they actually force your axle back down so hard/fast with fast hits, that the recoil valving on stock replacement shocks can't handle it. results in the ass end bucking sooner than it should

they work really well for crawling, but they are expensive.

these pictures are 4+ years ago, but I did enjoy them while crawling.

Damn, I always thought speed was their strong suit. Anyways, it turns out the Energy Suspension attached to the frame, not the strike plate. So I'll either drill a whole and use some fasteners, or tap a whole into the frame and screw right in.

Unfortunately, I just found another problem. When I went to take off my rear shocks, I unfastened them from the frame and noticed they become fully extended after only 3/4" past where they rest naturally... I'm concerned if the leaf packs "droop" I will over extend the stock. I really thought the nitrochargers would be able to fit the stock leaf pack + add a leaf... they were designed for the dakars, right??

I think the OMEs are just a stock length shock. in which case, it would make sense that you've almost maxed out. you'll need to check your bump stop height to verify you are good on compression, but if you have an inch+ of compression to spare, you can get the shock extender from toytec for like $20 or something. it'll give you that extra inch of drop.

Are they fairly robust? I feel like it's attaching a skinny rod to steel to another skinny rod of steel.

I had a set in my tool box for a while that someone left in my garage when they swapped to longer shocks. I think I gave them away, but I did get to check them out. they are just fine for what they do.

all they need to be able to handle is tension and compression. unless something gets all kinds of fucked up, any shock on any vehicle should never see any kind of bending force, be it at the middle or either end. if you were to try to bend the stud with a big wrench, I'm sure you could, but you'll never put those kinds of forces on it while wheeling.

Ok, here are my updated measurements of the center shaft of the shock.

    At rest, 7.75 inches
    Fully extended, 9.5 inches
Bump stop to frame, 6.0 inches

The bump stops will stop the shocks from full compression, however if I install a 3 inch extension, that means my 7.75 inches of travel will be reduced to 4.75 and the bump stops will no longer stop full compression... do I make the stops bigger and reduce my travel, or can these extensions be cut to length...

they can't be cut to length, but you can extend the bumps on your frame downward to stop the axle earlier.
