4WD Trans also have the Tcase shifter assembly and a front drive shaft that has to be removed. RWD is a lot easier in most cases. Plus 4x4's usually have more rust issues compared to a RWD, at least in the northeast.

 

1st gen problems. 2nd gen is a just a wire harness to unplug.

Well yeah, to buy a family truckster for cabin space. The plan was to give the wife the Escape, then I trade her car in for a DCLB. I buy the Escape after she says okay, then she says never mind. WOMEN...

So I will keep the Escape and run that bitch to the ground. I drive 124 miles at least, per day so getting 34 mpg is pretty nice. Plus, the Escape is roomy and comfy. The reg cab truck will be my spare, 3rd vehicle that I don't mind beating up, cutting it apart, and toying with it.

 

Oooooo your suppose to use a transmission jack... We ended up using a board on a small jack and it wanted to roll... I've never changed the clutch on a automatic, we just changed the whole thing on the auto mustang.

I'm referring to 4WD vehicles in general, not just tacomas. I just did a clutch on a 98 wrangler. That had Tcase linkage that had to be disconnected.
