These guys were walking in the broad daylight and it took forever for them to be taken down by tons of officers shooting at them

Actually I remember reading about a shotgun vs handgun vs rifle for HD and surprisingly with right ammo the AR did not over penetrate like you would think.

i also don't "need" a car that is capable of breaking the speed limit... we don't limit our lives to only things we "need", especially when such "need" is determined by somebody else...

As said previously multiple times, 1st I would rather shot him and die then die without shooting knowing I could have, 2ndly just because he has on armor doesn't mean it's going to continue to protect him after multiple shots and let him feel nothing, he will feel it.

Didn't watch clip but if I'm not mistaken police didn't just open fire on these guys.

Also dark theater DARK, if you've trained in the dark, DARK has nothing to do with it. I've trained in the dark and it's really not as bad as most would think. The part that sucks here is the innocent people running.

Actually they fired hundreds and hundreds of rounds at these guys over a prolonged period of time.

Link? I never remember hearing or seeing about that.

It also depends on what type of armor you get as well. If they fired hundreds of shots and continuously hit him well damn.

Edit quick glance at the clip, was wrong was thinking of different one. Can clearly see shots.

Watch the clip, the shoot out lasted 44mins "nearly 2,000 rounds of ammunition fired by the perpetrators and the police."

The longest bloodiest police shootout in history

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout

The whole reason cali has the 10 round limit is because of these guys

The gunman in Colorado had a vest, not full body armor. There is a difference.

Also, if you remember, the LAPD did not carry rifles in their cars when that happened, and it took a while to mobilize SWAT. They were shooting back with pistols and shotguns. They actually had to go to a local gun shop who graciously donated rifles to the cause.

Trust me when I say that a competent shot with a rifle can put one between the eyes of a human target at 100 yards without thinking too hard about it. It would have ended quckly if they had the means to do so.

Yeah check my edit in last post, was thinking of a different one. I can't believe I forgot about this one.

Well I have nothing to say to that one, you got me there.

But still if I know I'm probably going to die, I'm not going to go easy and maybe I can stall long enough for some more people to escape ya know?

they were unprepared for that scenario tactically... it turns out the perps had no head protection whatsoever... what eventually happened (since the SWAT was tied up in traffic), they had to "borrow" AR-15s from a nearby gun store, ...then were able to end it shortly thereafter...

Even if somebody in the theatre had a CCW, they wouldn't have had a rifle to to put a clear shot between this guy's eyes...

Yep cause they shot them over and over with their handguns and it didn't do anything...

You are mixing two unrelated scenarios. A competent shot with a pistol can do the same at 25 yards.

Holmes, who had just withdrawn from a neuroscience Ph.D program at the University of Colorado-Denver last month, was dressed in in black and head-to-toe ballistic gear, including a helmet, vest, leggings and a groin protector

Now due to booby-trapped apartment, they have evacuated to buildings(research labs) on the campus where he went to school and was seen this week. Just to be safe.

If you had a knife, would you dare attack the shooter in the theatre? Close proximity in smoke may favor knife?

Please do research before you comment,

Body armor and Vests are different as a matter of fact there are a lot of different variations of armor.
