I see your point, but all these internet badasses saying they would be a hero if they had a concealed weapon is fucking stupid.

    Not bashing being serious,

where did someone say I would have saved the day?

I see people stating their opinions, on what they would have done or tried but I dont see were anyone said if I would have been there I would have stopped it no questions asked.

Yes, I can guarantee that any of my Marines could maneuver and PID the shooter and take a clean shot. Anyone who hasn't had to exchange fire before, maybe not, but someone with CCW *AND* Experience, such as a infantry Marine, could have easily. Or at least would have died trying to save others.

This is going to come off bad,

Seriously are the victims going to read this? We can't pray for them and have a conversation?

Who is trying to convince the forum that they're o so high and mighty? We can't discuss what could have been tried or what someone may have done in case God forbid this to happen to someone here who does happen to carry, or a similar scenario.

I don't see anywhere anyone saying this is what they should have done "inset whatever you want here".

    Just saying.

Only if others felt the same way, to try and protect people they don't even know.

i don't think anyone is advocating being "a hero" here, ...but rather just saying that it could've had an impact... generally, you are responsible for yourself/family, and escape may be the best option, if possible... if you were unfortunate to be in the perp's immediate vicinity, no way of escape, ...something is better than nothing...

Honestly I wish I had more time and money to get better training. Laying down in dark and smoke filled theater is a good bet. Gunman will most likely be looking for moving targets.

All I would have on me would be my Taurus TCP in .380auto. That is only accurate on 15-20yards max and even that is probably only for experienced shooter. No way I would want to make the TCP measure against an assault rifle...

The worst outcome would be trying to shoot gunman down and hit innocent person maybe killing them...

This is all highly hypothetical, in situation like that with adrenaline rushing no telling what anyone of us would have done.

Lastly to the whole gun ban thing. People proposing that are idiots. The BAD guy will find a way to obtain a gun even if possession of firearm means life in prison. He wants to use to do bad thing which carries penalty as well so why would he care?

No, I digress and believe they are right, I regret contributing to the whole, "in this scenario. . ." debate. It does very slightly bother me that people don't thing he could have been stopped, but it bothers me infinitely more that these disturbing things happen, and for no reason whatsoever. Maybe the guy wasn't coddled enough, but either way this shouldn't blow up the way it typically does. I think we're all a bit desensitized to these horrible things from our various forms of entertainment, sometimes things don't really hit us as hard as it should. A bunch of people's loved ones are dead. I wish someone would have taken out the shooter before more died, but they didn't, so we who like to be prepared should continue to prepare in case we ever need to help in a situation like this, but let's not ignore the mourning of those have lost loved ones either. My bad. . .

    This.

For those that dont like when people talk about taking action: whether you flee, hide, or fight back, you are "taking action". This country was founded on men taking action and is protected by men taking action. So if you dont like talk of taking action, well... i suppose thats too bad.

My comment was directed toward the guy who said he absolutely would not do anything to protect himself. He said the only action that should be taken was to lie on the floor and wait for the cops.
I do not have a wild west attitude and have already defended my country. If I had the shot, I would have taken it; win, lose, or draw.
Reread my statement in the context provided; you might reconsider your opinion.
I should have quoted the guy I was refering to:rolleyes:

While I agree that those of us who are trained CAN take an accurate shot, hopefully even your trained Marines wouldn't risk shooting into the fray until a clean shot was available. My biggest complaint was for the person who basically said that collateral damage was acceptable. The death and injury of all of the people involved here is unacceptable, and to think that it would be ok to be responsible for an innocent death in the HOPES that your action would prevent more, I do not condone. THAT is the basis of my comments here.

Again my prayers go to those affected by this horrific act.

But how can you say it is cowardice. If the man did not feel like his actions would benefit in any way, then the intelligent thing to do would be to get out of harms way, be it towards a door, or on the floor. I do not see it as an act of cowardice. Simply someone who admits that he did not feel he would do any good attempting to engage.

    And yeah, a quote wouldn't hurt....lol
