If you replace the MC yourself you should do a write up on it! I’d be curious to see how involved it is.

The whole super duper double throw me down master is for the ATRAC and VSC, so that the system can apply brakes without your foot on the pedal.

Apply your e brake, put truck in reverse and while it is moving tap the brakes. Do it several times to adjust the rear brakes.

The $380/$190 price sounds more realistic. That's the same MC setup my '15 4.0L PreRunner has. Go online to the many discount Toyota parts seller - look up the MC part #. You might be able to shave something off that $380 and DIY

Amazon. Had to buy the part that fits on the MC separately, also had to get a double male adapter to join it to the hose on the tank part.

Double male adapter fixes this problem:

Sorry for the late chime in, but where are the easy directions to bleed your brakes if you have this master cylinder? Thanks

A member named Crom wrote it up a few years ago in the thread below. It's the 1st post. In this post he talks about swapping out bleeder screws with self bleeders made by speedbleed.com. If you want to go that route, it's your choice, but for my $$$ I'll stick with the stock bleeders and simply use the electric master cyl to bleed/flush the system for me.

    Here's the thread:

I am simply going to stick with stock bleeders. You do not need these speed bleed screws to flush the brake fluid. The electric master cyl will do that for you.

Ok thanks again for the help. I will use Crom's directions with the stock bleeders.

I hope i chose the right thread for this if not I'm sorry. I just didn't want to start a new thread. I'm new to this forum so please bear with me!
I have 2009 Tacoma Pre-Runner Sr5 V6 4.0L with 95,000 Miles. I'm currently in the process of doing as much scheduled maintenance as possible and i came across this:

I'm going to clean my entire engine bay soon which includes removing all this gunk. However, is this something i should be concerned about? I don't notice any problems with my brakes, but still felt the need to ask more experienced Tacoma owners. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

When surfaces get any amount of oil/fluid on them, they get what's called "accumulation" meaning debris sticks to them. Fluid can get on surfaces by over filling or seeping. What I see looks like accumulation caused by overfill in the past.

My advice would be to clean all the surfaces in the engine bay as best you can and then monitor for leaks. Check for the obvious leaks and repair them first.

Thank you for your input. I have an engine bay cleaning scheduled for tommorow. I will remove all of the accumulations I see and monitor them for any leaks. Thank you again for taking the time to answer my question.:)
