Hey, does anybody know how to hook the mat gecko under the bed rail lights to the OEM connector behind the tail light? I know it can be done, because at @mattgecko said it could be, but that he could not tell me because of liability purposes. Not trying to call Mattgecko out - just wondering if anybody else has figured it out. I know there is already a thread for this subject, but I was unable to post in there for some reason.

Leveled with Bilstein 5100 shocks, Falken Rubitrek AT 265/75 tires, Redline hood struts, R4T tailgate lock, Matt Gecko LED strips in bed and under hood, WeatherTech hood guard, OEM bed mat, Husky floor mats, Carhart seat covers, Grille replacement with Toyota letters, Sony AX6000 head unit, OTT lite/mild tune, and an occasional splash of fuel additive.
I installed these on my 2017 and ran hot wire under truck up drivers side up to battery. I put wire inside a plastic flex sleeve. Couldn’t locate unswitched 12 volts at rear. Maybe newer models have this available?

Yea, I know it can be hooked to the battery, but I’m to hook it to the OEM switch. They should be on all later model 3rd Gens.

What are you trying to accomplish by connecting it to the oem plug? I don’t mean that in a condescending manner, just curious.

I have mine hooked up to the battery and switch. In my head, I’m thinking that if you hook it up to anything OEM/bed light it would turn off automatically. I don’t think anything in that area has constant 12v to it.

My desire to be able to control everything from the cab. If I hook the bed lights to the same circuit as the light that’s over my rear window, then I can control all of them simultaneously using the factory installed switch in my cabin. That way I don’t have a switch for the light over my window in the cab and a switch for the other bed lights in the bed.

@caribe makaira can probably help here.
I was going to tap this light circuit, but haven't had time to mess with it.

OP, verify that there is power at the connector behind the tail lights when you select bed light illumination.
