I could only wait 2 weeks once I bought the ring. Hard to wait once it's purchased!

Hang the ring on the christmas tree and let her find it.

 

I heard never attach a proposal to another special event cause chicks want "their own day" I only had a small window of good weather when I proposed to my wife. (almost had to do it on april fools day)

Same here. If I had waited till our vacation at the beach she said she would have known something was up. I completely suprised her on a random trip with her brothers family to Six Flags. She had no idea. Turned out for the best. She loved it.

I told my wife we were going to start hiking as a new hobby. I bought her hiking gear (boots & pants) so that if she tried to back out I could sucker her into it and be like "I bought you all this stuff"... so that it was sure to work out. I took her to the highest point of elevation in Missouri and proposed to her there. It was kind of symbolic of how I asked her to be my girlfriend (I took her high up on a ridge). She had no idea it was coming. I remember sleeping in the Jareds parking lot 2 hours from home so that I wouldn't intercept her on the highway when she drove home from her night shift position.

I wore some big baggy hiking jeans so I could hide the ring in the cargo pocket by the knee and in my backpack I hid a rose made of crystal which was also symbolic of how I asked her to be my girlfriend (When I asked her to be my girlfriend I had a real rose taped to the inside of my jacket {I also had a back up rose in my forearm})

I also like to take photos of stuff so I set up a camera and worked out a little scenario where I set up the camera and secretly pressed the video button, then I "accidently" forgot something in my backpack for it so I ran back to my backpack (which was by her) and pulled out the rose and gave her my spiel then I got down on one knee... and you know the rest... here's a video frame and another photo

 

I think he should do it on New Years Eve. She'd never expect it since Christmas is usually the time these things happen.

 

No. She'd never expect it in the middle of fellacio or cunnilingus.

Have fun watching her tell her friends how he proposed.

 

No one expects proposals at funerals either. Or while their using the bathroom.
