    Thanks Guys!

Although you're not making this any easier.....:)

Since this is the first time the waterbed's been dismantled in 12 years, it was time to refresh the room itself. Spent yesterday painting the ceiling and went out looking for new bed frames/furniture. We'll be painting the walls today. Shopping for furniture sucks..... Can't find anything that we like. Seems the you pay a lot for lessser quailty furniture these days. Makes it harder to decide to spend the extra cash for higher quality furniture. We have a pretty nice bedroom suite in our spare bedroom that belonged to his father who passed away. It's very old Ethan Allen furniture (cherry) and it's exactly what we're looking for and it's high quality built. We've decided to use that instead. With the economy the way it is - it's good to save a little cash.

I'm hoping we can atleast decide on a bed/mattress sometime next week. This queen bed in our spare bedroom is getting on my nerves (literally). :D

Thanks for the tips!! Keep 'em coming!!

I just went through my first-ever bed buying experience in adulthood :p. I did a lot of research on bettersleep.org to arm myself on the different types of beds & criteria for selection. There is a wealth of info on that site and helped me considerably before I went out and tried out the beds.

The process for me took about 2 weeks but I bought a Sealy Posterpedic Weybridge Latex mattress set from a local, family-owned store which only sells the Sealy and Stearn & Foster lines (S&F is made by Sealy). What also was a deciding factor for me was that the bed was made in Albany, NY with u.s. materials & I got to see the owners Travis & Shantel handle a warranty claim during one of my visits. Beds can warranties just like trucks!

I have to say determining what was important to me prior to shopping (kinda like buying the tacoma). It was fun shopping & I absolutely love it.

    Thanks Guys/Gals!

We ended up buying a Simmons BeautyRest plush/with plush pillowtop. It's nice-n-soft and got a really good deal on it. The store has a 30 day return policy if we don't like it. It'll arrive Nov 4th.

You know - You literally can't comparison shop with mattresses. From what the store salesman tells us - each manufacturer will give mattressses separate names for each store so there's no price wars. So - you might have the same bed at 3 different stores, but they'll all have different names. THe only way to compare is to check out the exact information about whats INSIDE the mattress, foam layers, coils, yadda yadda yadda.
Talk about a headache!!! All I wanna do is price shop and compare!! ARGH!!
I didn't realize how 'complicated' the whole sales thing is with mattresses.

    We're still shopping for a bed/frame.

Good luck with that... Furniture shopping is such a pain. My wife and I have been looking for a bed/frame (among other things) that we like, that isn't cheap, poorly constructed, crap for the last 6 months, and we're really having a hard time.

I can totally agree with you on that - and for the exact reasons!

Seems the nice quality / prefessionally built stuff costs an arm/leg and a few toes. :D I like spending more for quality stuff - but damn....I wanna pay for the furniture and not pay for *a name*.

If we can't find anything we like soon - we'll buy a metal frame and call it good. I'm not fussy...I just don't like all the fancy-schmancy styling they have out.

For the hell of it... I went out and bought a generic metal frame (no headboad or footboard). And we've decided to keep it that way. Having just a metal frame gives us more room at the foot of the bed for our highboy/TV setup.

So - I've got another question for you guys/gals.

I have this DEEP pocket mattress now. I have to buy 20" deep pocket sheets and even the flat sheets don't seem to fit the way they should. It works, so I don't really care.

I have atleast 3 king comforters and they're too short on the sides!

Is there such a thing as over-sized comforters that'll fit (completely) the mattress of a 20" (or larger) deep pocket?
I wanna cry cuz this site says they don't exist.
