These things probably wouldn't even get the chain tight.

I can see that. You start pulling and Andy's POS rear bumper rips off at the same time Mike's rusted bed tears in half. The two chunks of metal fly toward each other, clang, and land on the ground halfway between the vehicles. Mike's truck, with a much lighter rear end, is now doing a burnout in place. Andy's in compound low, so he slowly starts creeping away.

Whelp, Not going to wheel with Mr. Andrews again, his bad luck has turned to me. :p

The rear end is making a terrible popping noise. It seems to be too close together to be a chipped tooth on the ring gear, might be the pinion gear. Or it could be bearings. :notsure: Reckon im going to have to bite the bullet and just go ahead and buy a prebuilt spooled 3rd.

Hey now...don't be so quick to eliminate the ring gear! You could have MULTIPLE chipped teeth! Evenly spaced!

    (I'd bet pinion)

Do you have a solid collar back there? I'm convinced my diffs blew up because of tagging the pinion flange and fucking up the crush sleeve, thus throwing the pinion preload and depth off, thus chewing up the gears.

Since the solid collar has gone in, no problems so far (for a whole year! )

If it's none of that, make sure chunks of your frame aren't ripping apart ;)

I don't know if it has a solid collar or not, I've drug it a few times since Gulches and URE. Probably has something to do with it.

    The frame is fine. :p

Hmm, I know where you can get a 5.29 spooled 3rd and 35's for cheap, then you just need another 5.29 set ;)

Bought ajohnson's old 35's and 5.29 spooled diff.

Temp mount until I get the diff installed. Pic's are chitty, I'll get some better ones once I finish the install.
