Another question for you my dude. To attach the 80/20 to the bottom of the tent did you have to drill holes into the aluminum or can you access the mounting holes through the tent (from the inside and under the mattress)?

No drilling. Generally, those tent bottoms are either a honeycomb for rigidity or full of filling so you might be upset with your result.

The predrilled holes on my particular tent are M6. I was lucky that the length of the bolts from the hardware store were exactly what I needed on the first try. I used the following by threading a little and then sliding the rail on. I used a little bit of electrical tape to keep the bolts in place while upside down and tightened everything. Photo 1 is technically sideways since I ended up using 10 holes vs Yakima’s 8.

Alternatively, you can get a variation of these and use different hardware if your tent prevents you from sliding over the nuts from the side.

The fourth photo is just some painted aluminum that did a better job than washers on the rack rails. I then added bolts accordingly to act as a box clamp.

Do you mind posting photos of the space between the diamondback and rack? I’ve been looking for ideas in that gap but worry about my rear window. It is now occurring to me that I can use 80/20 to build a sliding drawer.

Here’s a not great photo of a recent trip. I have two bars running across the top of the front-to-back Voodoo crossbars. The tent clamps onto those 80/20 bars.

Then I’ve attached two other 80/20 bars perpendicular to those using the 90 degree angle connectors. To the bottom of that second set, I attached a K9 table mount that I modified to fit. https://www.equipt1.com/products/k9-camp-table-mount

A net holds sleeping bags. Various eyelet mounts are for light and awning attachments.

I thought about rigging a drawer system with 80/20 but decided to keep it simple.

Here’s a garage floor photo from above showing the 80/20 bars on the Voodoo. This was a prelim while I was getting it figured out.

Can the iKamper Skycamp Mini be mounted to the Max Modular Taco Max 10” High Toyota Tacoma Bed Rack without any modifications? Can you send an actual picture of how the iKamper is attached to the rack?

Sorry for bringing up a year old question but I figured I’d throw in my experience for anyone looking to do this setup currently.
I mounted my Tepui (Thule) Kukenam 3 with the aluminum RTT bracket parallel to the top MAX modular bars just fine without any drilling. I have the 10” with tonneau adapters as well. If I remember correctly, the Tepui tent rails were 32” spaced, FYI.

Happy to send pics to anyone with questions.

I have the tonneau brackets for my voodoo rack and I’m thinking of keeping it on my rig. Does anyone have a link to purchase security screws (and key) to replace the 4 bolts that secure the rack to the tonneau mounts?

Would a 10 inch KB Rack be able to support exterior side mounting of max trax and have a RTT? Or would I need a 14? I am trying to stay as low as possible.

Could you post a picture with both on a 10 inch? I haven't seen any. At least I don't think I have, which was leading me to believe i needed a 14 inch.

I’m pretty sure it fits. You could also get the 10” rack with the tonneau brackets which will put you in the middle of the two at 12”

Just note, this one also has the brackets for the Diamondback, that adds 2.5”.

How did you mount your waterport? just the top bolts and the bottom middle one on the universal mount?

I could only get the top two bolts to line up with the side bar's holes. Rather than drill another hole, I stuck with it. Works well. The base plate is pretty stable. The Waterport vibrates on it's base on gravel roads so I added an adhesive rubber pad to help prevent the the extra vibrations. (The base itself is solidly on)

Here is how I have my 10 inch rack set up. I’m considering creating a sliding system for Plano cases that will swivel out and down at 45 degrees.

    DFE8A2FA-0BE2-45B6-8145-37922EC46151.jpg 2B0BF316-16A0-4959-AF2F-697481907202.jpg 51B22652-DEFD-4614-A63C-11EC677E6245.jpg D4CBB6BC-9354-4BC9-9800-ACFDA5BDAC41.jpg

Keeping the tent in line with the roof rack was important so I went with the 10.

14 would work with a hard shell. I looked at hard shells but keep a lot of bedding, bags, 4 pillows, extra cushion, a lighting system, and occasionally fans in there full-time.
