I'm looking at getting one of the max modular racks, and I want to get the outboard hardware to mount bikes, but the description is a little confusing. Do the outboard bike mounts include the front mount as well as the rear wheel tray? Also, if I select the quantity to be for both sides of the rack, does that just include two front brackets, or two front brackets and two rear wheel trays? I understand that you you don't sell, the actual fork mount.

    Also, any discounts available?

If you order the mounts for one side of the rack, it comes with two brackets and one tire tray. Double that if you get them for both sides.

Can you recommend an awning to fit the long bed 14” aluminum rack on the short bed Tacoma? I’d like to maximize awning coverage, but the 14” rack doesn’t put the awning brackets high enough to clear the truck cab and that limits how long an awning I can use.

Is it possible to open a Diamondback cover with any of Alumax racks? I think the answer is probably no, but I like the look of the Alumax a lot more than the utility rack for my needs.

Retractable covers are the only kind of covers that can open with the ALUMAX.

Bummer, thanks for the quick reply though. My Diamondback cover should be here next month, so I'll have to figure out what's more important between using a bed rack full time versus being able to open the cover. I may end up going with the utility rack in the end.

Haha oh I know, I've stalked your build thread many times. You have a really great setup but I really want to keep the rack and the cover on at all times. Life is rough...

I couldn’t afford to buy a new Tacoma. As I save, I leased one. Looking for something to carry my whitewater kayaks. My Tacoma is a 2019 Sport. With this be easily to remove and not cost me anything when I return my leased Tacoma?

It's super easy to take on and off and can be transferred to your new truck in minutes.

It seems the urtc rack has the same weight specs as the other racks with the accessory panels. Does this mean it can handle a rooftop tent fine all while being able to open an oem tacoma tonneau cover fully? Or is there another rack that can do so, maybe the 22”?

Yes, the Max Modular URTC is rated for tents. The only problem is that it does not play well with the factory cover on 3rd gen's.

You would not be able to open the cover with the 22" ALUMAX.

The reason for this is because of the metal pins? How does it not play well? Not able to fully lock or something?
What cover works well with it, any diamondback?

Yep, it's the pins that cause problems.

The Max URTC uses a wide base flange. The cover has to be one that doesn't interfere with the base.

We used it on our BesTop cover with no issues.

Actually, if you get it without any side panels, you may be able to get around the pins. The base flange is 3/16" thick, and 10" long.
